What's the nicest item you have found in a box or on a critter/player?

For me it would have to be the rechargeable phoen's strength rod I found in a box awhile back. . Just had it altered for shits and giggles acouple days ago.

a sunburst capped mossbark rod - A contorted shaft of rough mossbark has been wrapped with hemp to give the owner a firm grip on this crude looking rod. Upon its top rests a magnificently carved golden sunstone that has been chiseled into the shape of a twisted-rayed sunburst. Hardly fitting of the rod, the sunstone has been woven to its top with thick lengths of thread.

eh.. a 1 pound, vla cloak with a long description.

Oh and a ring with a show that is imbeddable.

Both in Plat, btw.

Probably the carmlin Xojium staff a kobold sheperd dropped for me in Plat a few weeks back...

A set of 5x double leathers (sky blue leathers emblazened with a soaring griffin or something very close to that).
OH! and the opal handled vaalin lockpick I found in the gy in ZL.

Um. VLA backpack that weighed one pound.

I found a set of blood red leathers in troll kings that were 2x and decently damage padded. I also found a really cool altered lockpick kit up on Teras.

3 months fresh into Gemstone, found a locked box at a table in Wayside. I have an old rogue pick it in the tower, and get a silver and gold infinity ring with 9 charges of invisibility.

I felt like I was Bilbo and found the lost ring of power.

Later sold it for 1 million silvers. I thought I was rich after that. Especially since I only had about 100k to my name.

The nicest is a toss up between a back worn cookie jar with a long that held a very large amount OR a slender gilt-edged prayerbook with two scroll pages that had WoL and Raise Dead along with a bookmark.

a spider talisman with a lore song, that changes the color of your disks. Never used it, but cool nontheless.

My most used box found was a flippable coin with a picture of an aelotoi on it. My first-ever aelotoi used it ALL the time.

A 4x falchion with a snowflake show. Was pretty neat... wish I could find the description it had.

Wooo, a disk changer out of a box?

The color change usually comes with a show desc on the disk too. What did it look like?

A 5x shield from the Jants when they were around, and a wedding ring in Foggy Valley with the inscription 'Marriage isn't a word, it's a sentence.' I also found a 4x polished falchion at the opening of the Minotaurs before warriors could polish anything.

I've found, I think, 7 or so unique box-founds, excluding all that weird mithril stuff that dropped right before GS-IV and a few naturally ET'd bows and runestaffs.

I guess the neatest/nicest would have to be a 4x vultite crowbill with a loresong that said I somehow enchanted it with my warrior

Hmm I found a list of stuff that I kept track of while in the bog..

a visciously spiked vaalorn mace - x3 with fire flares
a vultite backsword
a vultite ball and chain

and I found all my stuff in prime.. does seem that people in plat find the nicer things

in the same week, just recently, both from steel golems, I found a velvet tea gown, which I've since sold, and a 4x heavily crit weighted stiletto w/a great show desc that came with a unique wrist sheath...was offered 5m for it, but I decided to make a 2wc rogue instead of selling it.

the only boxfound items I've found after playing on and off for about 10 years.

and yah, i've got to agree that people in plat find way nicer things, way more often...even if it's the same number of nice items that critters are lugging around, its still an immensely higher nice item per critter ratio.

That's a really amazing find. Good thing you didn't take that bid too, it's worth atleast twice that.

I found "a golden twig bangle" that Satira loves to wear. I also found an altered doll dress one time. Didn't do anything, but it was interesting nontheless.

It's 10x better than had you found it on a critter or a bench or something, just because it wasn't yours.

A few things over the years:

(i) a box found sourpuss shrimp toy with a cool show
(ii) some fingerless spidersilk gloves with an elaborate loresong, and
(iii) numerous weapons from critters, the latest being an ivory-hilted mithglin short sword with a fluted eahnor pommel

A friend of mine recently found a blue-sheened eonake greatsword with a really good show.

some calf-high black leather boots tooled with a small tunnelcat - boxfound

I always thought those were really cool. I still have them for when I (rarely) change outfits.

permablessed 0x claidhmore.

Was it claidhmore based?

Holy flaming pile of crap... Um, what ever happened to those non-claid based 0x blessable "claids," come to ponder it, that dropped in that Landing invasion waaay back when?

Wow. You could probably supe one of those up and sell it for a pretty penny after converting it.

You tap a silver-tooled gossamer wrist pouch that you are wearing.
s>open goss pouch
Unclasping your gossamer wrist pouch, you fold back the cover and loosen the drawstrings.
s>close goss pouch
You pull the drawstring of your gossamer wrist pouch closed tightly before folding the flap over it and securing the clasp.

and a drake greathelm that depicts how you would raise a greathelm off with both hands and then wear it and make sure its snug and whatnot...

good stuff that i can remember anyways

ruby-hilted white ora dagger (found it late 1998 or early 1999), 2x, sanctified, fire flares. If I remember right, frost giant box. Sold it to Jaelus for 150k. First time I ever saw a dagger lockpick.

scorched silver and gold hilted vultite flamberge. 4x and lightning flares. Neat looking weapon I thought, ended up giving it to a friend.

My personal favorite, and something I use now: a light pink ruic long bow.

>tap brace
You tap a delicate glass pansy bracelet in a silver-trim blue wool greatcloak.
>look brace
The translucent, bluish-violet petals of the glass pansies are rimmed in gold and linked together with a fine gold chain. A tiny diamond glimmers in the center of each blossom.

Boxfound item, but only a pansy would wear it regularly.

It contains charges of Spirit Warding II and is mage rechargable. Non-crumbly.

Also, critter found...

tap bow
You tap a lilac yew composite bow, which is in your left hand.

You sing to your yew composite bow:

"Bow I hold in my hand
Tell me your ability in this land."

Roundtime: 7 sec.

As you sing, you feel a faint resonating vibration from the yew composite bow in your hand...

The harmonics generated tell you that the bow inflicts more fearsome wounds when it strikes.

Yeah. It was everything the same as a claidhmore except it could hit undead and never ran out of blesses. Got it off a king ghoul master or something similar who was the "boss" in a quest/invasion thing in the GY. Sometime during 95 or 96.

I mean, the cloudy blue conversion chamber in weapon and armor shops serve just the purpose to convert a weapon like this, er..?

I had one of those Stovel katanas from waaay back that I sold to Nathan a while ago; I know that katanas, for sure, were definitely an item that would automatically convert if it swung for the wrong weapon base (assuming you want to implement one of the fog-swirled chambers on 'em.)

I don't understand why you shouldn't be able to convert the claid into claid (assuming you make sure to juice it up with a couple enchants, first :D)

Was that the one when the death knight in the rat nexus ended up killing just about everybody and everyone, so Spike ended up having to finish off business?

You can convert a claidh into a claidh. You wouldn't get claidh weighting though, just the AvD's and DFs.
