Hey, can a wizard be as good a forger as say a warrior given same race etc? Meaning can both professions master say the making of a greatsword?

It is my understanding that profession is not a factor.

The warrior has a small handicap to crafting, and a small bonus to forging.

The wizard has a signifigant handicap to crafting.

Mind pointing me to that documentation? Please.

So my gnome empath is probably wasting her time trying to learn to forge, huh?

All it does is affect your chance to create a successful piece.

Well, that'd explain my getting her to skilled-laborer with so few hammers to show for it, I guess. Not that I'm keeping any of them, but I've been wondering why I can go through 9 blocks and only get one or two hammer-handles. I'd expected it to be more like fletching where there are more successes than failures.

Umm, so it is possible for my wizard or sorcerer to create just as good a greatsword as my warrior, just it'll take longer?

Correct.

how much of a handicap are we talking about if your a wizard forging? Does being an elf offset the crafting handicap since you get a bonus to it? Or are these one of those stupid questions that my teacher always told me didn't exist.

quote dream inspiring teacher, " There are no such thing as stupid questions!!"

but what does she know, she wears a helmet to class.

Small bonus does not offset significant handicap.
