My all-time favorite arcade memories were of Golden Axe... I loved that game.
And of course, all the original Nintendo games. I remember playing Contra, Super Mario Bros, Bomberman, A Boy and His Blob (where you fed the blob jelly beans, if I remember correctly), Astyanax, Metroid, etc. Oh, and Duck Hunt with that stupid gun -- or was that Super Nintendo?
Anyone else remember the old trick of blowing on the contacts of the Nintendo and Sega games when the games started getting flaky?

Anyone else remember the old trick of blowing on the contacts of the Nintendo and Sega games when the games started getting flaky?Yes. It's allegedly really bad for the games. I use a q-tip moistened with some kind of cleaning agent now. I can't say I get any better results.
Atarilol you really are old.
Duck Hunt was an NES game and did utilize the Super Zapper.

MULE
lol you really are old.
You bet your sweet bippy.
I was 6 when I remember playing the first coin operated table top pong game (green screen) at a hotel lobby in Orlando (Disney).
My first computer was a TI99-4A, which I had 2 years before I got my first Atari 2100(?) system. Its hard drive was a cassette tape recorder. I had a few basic cartridges but programmed most of my games in via number line basic as they were copied from computer magazines.
Back to games, I loved my Atari and had over 20 game cartridges, and yes blowing on the contacts worked 95% of the time when you got the wonky screen upon startup for Atari as well as NES. I still wish I had my old Atari system just for nostalgia.

if you have a PSP, pick up Midway Arcade Treasures: Extended Play.
It's $30 and includes:
Rampage
Championship Sprint
Mortal Kombat 1, 2, & 3 (wireless multiplayer)
Spy Hunter
Defender
Paper Boy
720 degrees
Gauntlet (4 player wireless multiplayer)
Marble Madness
Rampart
Arch Rivals
+other games
Most all of the games are multiplayer (some wireless with other people who have the game, some where you just pass the PSP around).
And it looks like Capcom came out with a classics for the PSP too, but the only game that interested me was Street Fighter.

Boy: Dad, no one wants to hear your stupid Vietnam stories.
Male: Are you tired of mom?
Mom: Hi angel, do you want to read a book or go outside?
Boy: NO! (Degenatron)
Male: The arcade comes to your living room, only without the creepy guys offering to show you puppies.
Boys: Awesome!
Male: The Degenatron, you can play video games just like you are in the arcade!
Kids: Excellent! (Degenatron)
Male: The degenatron gaming system plays three exciting games including Defender of the Faith where you save the green dots with your fantastic flying red square.
Boys: Cool
Male: Monkey's Paradise where you swing from green dot to green dot with your red square monkey.
Boys: That's rad!
Speaker: And Penatrator where you smash the green dots deep inside the mysterious red square.
Boys: WOW!
Male: The Degenatron brings arcade realism to your living room. It can even take quarters and a strange sweaty man comes by to empty the machine on Fridays. (Degenatron)
Male: Degenatron, fighting the evil of boredom.
Boys: I'll never go to school again! (Degenatron)

ken griffey Jr. baseballFor the 64? I thought that game was atrocious. :\ The fielding and baserunning were painfully awkward, though I did like posting 0.15 ERAs and .800 batting averages.
What makes me laugh about Goldeneye being brought up (though it was assuredly a classic) is how it would require, like, a bajillion Ataris in series to generate the processing power required to operate it.
