Was wondering for someone with a decent amount of Redux, will crit or damage padding be better? I know in GS III, it was damage padding all the way, but with GS IV which one is it (again with someone with high redux)?

Hard to say, nowadays....DFRedux isn't the same. I find that crit padding keeps me from getting toasted more than damage ever would. But that's in OTF. If you're a warrior, go with damage, anything else other than a straight combat rogue, go crit.

- My advice, take it with grain of salt, but fear the Chihuahua!!

A lot of the OTF folks swear by crit padding. I've never hunted in OTF. I can tell you that for the majority of the game, a heavily reduxed character will never be subjected to rank 2 crits, so crit padding won't make a lick of difference. Damage padding won't do much, but it will do more than nothing.

If you totally disregard manuevers, damage padding. Considering boils and other such things, I think crit is the better choice.

Hauberk and down w/ critical padding.

Metal breastplate and up w/ damage padding.

Yw.

Whatever you can afford, but yeah Hammerhead's advice mbp and up damage is pretty solid.

Damage padding sucks. Crit padding forever.

Damage padding is best once you have decent redux, it's all about sustainability and you'll just plain out last longer when you're getting chipped away by slightly less then what you would be getting hit for.

Randomized reduction of damage padding has made it worth substantially less than what it used to be worth. Stick with the crit padding.

Tell that to the griffin dropping you on your neck/head when you're heavily encumbered.

Wrong.

Actually I think he might be right on this one. Crit padding for full plate is not going to matter a whole lot with the large crit divisor + the Redux. At least in my experience I rarely die to crits (I actually don't think I ever died to a crit). I usually die because I'm stunned and lying flat on the ground and my berserk (im not mastered) doesn't kick in fast enough, and eventually they just blood loss me to death.

Manuevers. The end.

Maneuvers will pwn you regardless of plate DFs, redux and all the damage padding in the world. Secondly, damage padding is entirely random. So even with the best damage padded armor in the game, you're going to drop anywhere from 1 to 40 damage. Now, normal, generic, common damage padding is going to lose you 1 to 10. 1 to 10 damage means shit. It means one bite of acantha leaf, a use of sym of recovery, or at best sign of healing.

BTW, you answered your own question in your post. You usually die because you're lying down and stunned. With crit padding you wouldn't be stunned as bad, and probably wouldn't be lying down either.
