You trace an intricate sign that contorts in the air while forcefully invoking Implosion...
Your spell is ready.
>cast at see
A quick flick of Nodyre's wrist sends a vultite-tipped harpoon into flight!
Nodyre throws a vultite-tipped harpoon at an Ithzir seer!
AS: +482 vs DS: +219 with AvD: +31 + d100 roll: +75 = +369
... and hits for 134 points of damage!
Shot destroys eye and the brain behind it!
The Ithzir seer falls to the ground in a crumpled heap.
The opalescent aura fades from around an Ithzir seer.
The deep blue glow leaves an Ithzir seer.
The Ithzir seer no longer bristles with energy.
The dim aura fades from around an Ithzir seer.
The light blue glow leaves an Ithzir seer.
An Ithzir seer seems to lose an aura of confidence.
The vultite-tipped harpoon ricochets away from an Ithzir seer, landing nearby.
>
You gesture at an Ithzir seer.
A little bit late for that don't you think?
But it is dead!
A void rips open in the area, , but an Ithzir seer is dead. Parts of the seer begin ripping from the torso and disappearing into the void.
A number of items ranging from 13 to 14 feet from the void were sucked into the blackness. The void disappears without further incident.
Cast Roundtime 3 Seconds.

For christs sake, I use 720 probably once in a hunt. And it just so happens to be when Nodyre throws something from hiding.

HAHAHA, if anyone deserved it, it was him. To be fair, its a dangerous hunting area, and it's incredibly dumb to use weapons that are expensive/valuable/loved.

I wouldn't feel sorry at all, ESPECIALLY because it's that dumb guy.

That was just a case of really, really, really bad timing. Generally not a big fan of open implosion, but I can't say that was reckless use of it.

He would probably be better off using e-bladed spears. I dunno what base harpoons are, but 4x flaring thrown spears would be pretty nasty.

So, in any area where dropping and losing weapons is quite common, why on earth would somebody who uses hurled weapons NOT register that weapon?

He's got nobody to blame but himself. From what I can tell of the log, he didn't even have a disk to let anybody know he was hiding in that room. If he's that reckless, he'd be better off using ebladed spears.

I've only posted here once before in response to unwarranted personal attacks, but this thread was pointed out to me by a friend and I felt it necessary to respond.

My character, Nodyre, did nothing but ask Shimmerain for an apology. After losing one of my nice harpoons a few weeks back I decided to use the inexpensive ones sold over-the-counter in Icemule. They are certainly replaceable, just not easily done as I have to trek across the dragonspine to do so.

While I *always* register my items, it appears I had not in this case. I had just recently lost a harpoon last night to a fading seer and grabbed another from my locker. While I admit it was my lack of registering that resulted in the weapon being lost, I do not see any action I have done which would warrant such senseless and heartless personal attacks.

I asked Shimmerain for an apology and received none.
That is all.

The fact that some of you have taken it upon yourselves to further insult me merely speaks toward a lack of common decency. I do not kill players, I do not disrupt the fun of others, I simply try to do my thing without getting in the way. It is not whining to ask someone who permanently destroyed an item of mine, regardless of its perceived value, to apologize.

As for the other commentators who insulted me... Vulvamancer, who suggests I need counseling: my mental health is just fine, thank you. I thought better of you, Aaysia, after our time spent in the rift. Nevermind, please do ignore me if I irritate you so. And, lastly, StrayRogue: your unbelievable dislike for me is entirely out of hand. You said similar things the last time I was brought up on these forums. I don't know *what* I've done to you in the past, but I apologize for it profusely. It must have been fucking awful if you really hate me as much your posts seem to imply. And I want ALL of you to know that if you have any personal attacks you wish to direct at me it is much easier to just send me an e-mail or AIM. I check them both regularly.

I bid you folks a happy Fourth of July in hopes that I do not have to return here again to address unwarranted personal attacks.

He shouldn't have to give one. You didn't deserve one. You were stupid on at least THREE counts: 1) for not registering 2) for not declaring you were there, by disk or otherwise 3) for using thrown weapons.

While mistakes were made leading up the the event, a simple OOC whisper to the effect of "Sorry bout your harpoon, didn't see you there, however, IC, Shimm couldn't care less, I am sure you understand." could end the whole issue altogether.

Oh sweet mother of Jesus, don't invite the beast to plat. He'd bitch how the portal system was too easy, then make a Rogue build to hold a ton of items, then complain about how its too easy to manipulate the portal to gather things.

Or he'd bitch about how he dropped his weapons when dying, even though he registered them. Then build a mutant rogue who has his weapons cursed to his hands to stop the item drop, then whine how he can't get loot.

Still, if I want to say I did it on purpose (I'd have to have been superhuman to know he was in the shadows) I reckon I did it the best way possible since I took his weapon and parts of his kill into the void.
In future though Xy, I'll well do nothing to help.
And since he throws his weapons away as an attack style, I'll just ignore his constant pleas to return his stolen (by ithzir) weapons.

>Or he'd bitch about how he dropped his weapons when dying, even though he registered them. Then build a mutant rogue who has his weapons cursed to his hands to stop the item drop, then whine how he can't get loot.

Nodyre, you are an intelligent human being, but sometimes < all the time > I w
wish you would shut the fuck up and simply enjoy the game.

Damn Stun, cut the guy some slack man!!!! He may bitch a little, but it's constructive atleast. Much to say most of the bitching I hear is worthless dribble at best. I've heard some from you on occasion. I don't bitch, I mearly put an end to a means.

You piss me off... I'm commin fer ya... beleive that!!!

Please go to the officials and read The Good, Bad, and the Ugly thread with Discussions w/Simu. Then kindly retract your post. The only constructive post I've seen of his had the stink of utmost contempt/sarcasm in it, and I read a good chunk of sections he posts in ( CM discussion, Discussions, Rogues, Redux, etc ).

Everyone has the right to voice their opinions, and I have also done my fair share of griping ( not of the officials, per ce ). My main issue with Nodyre is how he addresses people on the officials, and how he expects a red name to answer his questions/bitches/moans on the forums immediately, yet gripes/bitches/moans/cries when a GM can't get work done because they spend time answering his dribble.

Yes, he has stolen the crown from Aspen/Virilneus in regards to whining on the boards.

Even the GM's don't respect him. I love reading their responses to his dumb posts.

<<While I *always* register my items, it appears I had not in this case. I had just recently lost a harpoon last night to a fading seer and grabbed another from my locker. While I admit it was my lack of registering that resulted in the weapon being lost, I do not see any action I have done which would warrant such senseless and heartless personal attacks. - Nodyre"

Basically, you whine like a little bitch. You ALWAYS whine like a little bitch. At this point even if you had a valid point (and you don't in this case), everyone is just going to say "Yep, Nodyre is whining like a little bitch again and that is all they see."

Why don't you stop your fucking whining and complaining on the boards and IG COMPLETELY and I can guarantee people will cut down on their insults to you (InsultsToYouTwo...I like that!). Unfortunately you already have a bad reputation and you have made that bed so you will have to sleep in it until you overcome it.

Or you could keep on whining like a bitch and keep getting insulted.

I thought better of you, Aaysia, after our time spent in the rift.

Hm? Where was the unwarranted personal attack that I made? I just said no one deserves to lose a weapon, and that you whine in general. Even you have admitted to it on the official forums, or at least you've admitted to being known for it so I basically didn't say anything you didn't already know.

Nodyre wanted the drama. If this were an arrow instead of a harpoon nobody would have thought twice about it. I do not see a big difference between the two except a harpoon cost more. And losing one 12k harpoon every now and then should be expected.

This is IC drama. I would have just said to Shim "dont worry about." but thats what my char would have done. Nodyre isnt like that and we shouldnt bash him for demanding an apology.

I do agree both should have OOC'd some conversation to avoid this board bashing.

I enjoyed the part sitting there, listening to Nodyre whine to Cylla, apparently surprised that she'd defend Shimm's actions, and have Porcell join in by whispering to me, "He's a whiner"

Good times.

Nodyre and my char have always been cool. He does like to bitch a lot on the message boards but if I don't agree I just don't respond.

I think Nodyre's a pretty decent guy all in all, this coming from someone else who seems to "whine" on the officials. He handled it alot better than a thrown version of Leash would have anyway, the end result would be him bypassing Shim's parry defense with a hurled feras weapon from hide.

Seems to me y'all both stayed in character and played it out. Not sure what the problem is. Disliking someone's character ingame because you disagree with their player's opinions in an out-of-game forum is fairly silly, in my opinion, and pretty much negates the idea that interactions are in character roleplay.

Which is why while Aaysia thinks Nodyre is great. *I* the player thinks he bitches a bit much on the boards

Yesterday Nektarius was dropped by his ISP twice in the space of 10 hours and lost his equipment both times.
He was proper pissed off about it and probably didn't help that my character acted like he didn't give a shit. I thought he was going to go completely nuts.
Then as I rest at the fountain he whispers OOC to me that he'd been dropped ect ect, and if he seemed a little bitter that was why.
I replied if there's anything I can do OOC to help I'd love to and he just had to ask.
Point being, I love to help people who don't go off the wall-bat shit crazy, and that with his attitude in game and on both boards.. Nodyre's getting nothing from me.
Props to Nektarius.

Have you ever interacted with him in game, when things do not go his way Jennaen ? When crap happens, Nodyre, and his player throw a hissy fit. He forgets the pride that the character Nodyre has, and the player's whiney personality shines through and abolishes whatever established RP he has set.

So no. Refusing to help him/leaving him to rot/not helping him retrieve weapons is not as you would suggest. In a town of full blooded elves, a half-blooded elf who bitches would not be well received.

I'm jumping into this late, and there are plenty of posts I wish to respond to, but, I've lost(before the bandolier purchase)over 9 flaring vultite weapons and countless amounts of other items due to hurling, and even registered, I only got 2 returned to me, which were NOT registered.

Thrown is a horrible broken system that is not hunting friendly by any means yet. If someone imploded my weapon, the least I would request is another to replace it with not a question asked...

If you made no move to show yourself in a hunting area, you're lucky it was just your weapon that got imploded.

Gan

Losing one's weapon when hurling is and should always be considered a risk of the skill with the current system in implementation.

Losing ones weapon of any sort in OTF is and should be considered a definate risk of the hunting area.

Losing a hurling weapon used in OTF should be considered a bonafide risk and definately part of any hunting experience undertaken there, no exceptions.

Any reaction beyond an immediate display of frustration (gnashing ones teeth, muttering something under your breath, slapping ones forehead, etc.) is illogical at best, and stupid/drama seeking at worst.

It seems he was offered money to replace it and was refused.

Perhaps Gemstone could get the idea and make thrown weapons exhaustive and generic (like wow) like arrows and bolts are currently in game.

It could even be expounded upon with the creation of interesting hurling options with Artisian skills (like forgery and fletching).

Thrown really isn't that bad. There's a bit of a siege mentality with a certain vocal group of posters when it comes to the subject, but it really isn't that bad.

Warriorbird

It really isn't. By the time you get to that point in the game you can afford a bunch of throwaway stuff or stuff that you won't drop.
