I'm pretty sure that isn't even a real Calvin and Hobbes comic. From what I remember, he stopped doing them upwards of 5 years ago.

Yea, I remember that too Latrin. It's been done at least 5 years now.

If that really is the last one, it'd be a shitty ending.

"The pills must be working?"

What the fuck?

Calvin & Hobbes was and still is my favorite comic strip. I can relate to Calvin, his father, and even Hobbes in so many ways.

The last strip to run was in December, 1995.

Here's an excerpt regarding the finality of the C & H strip.

In 1995, Watterson sent a letter via his syndicate to all editors whose newspapers carried his strip. It contained the following:

I will be stopping Calvin and Hobbes at the end of the year. This was not a recent or an easy decision, and I leave with some sadness. My interests have shifted however, and I believe I've done what I can do within the constraints of daily deadlines and small panels. I am eager to work at a more thoughtful pace, with fewer artistic compromises. I have not yet decided on future projects, but my relationship with Universal Press Syndicate will continue. That so many newspapers would carry Calvin and Hobbes is an honor I'll long be proud of, and I've greatly appreciated your support and indulgence over the last decade. Drawing this comic strip has been a privilege and a pleasure, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity.

The 3,160th and final strip ran on Sunday, December 31 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_31), 1995 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995).[10] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_%26_Hobbes#_note-1) It depicted Calvin and Hobbes outside in freshly-fallen snow, reveling in the wonder and excitement of the winter scene. "It's a magical world, Hobbes ol' buddy!" Calvin exclaims in the last panel. "Let's go exploring!" [11 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_%26_Hobbes#_note-2)

so sad.

:lolwave:

I had a 3rd grade teacher who hooked us up with this one awesome homework assignment where we had to fill in the talking bubbles (probably white out'd + Xeroxed) from a Calvin & Hobbes book, and were to sketch in all sorts of phenomenally wonderful things our tiny brains might deem as comical at the time.

P.S. Secret of Mana's Spirit of the Night would've had more effect :D

Either way after being a reader of C&H all these years, to see Calvin actually turn away form hobbes, fake or real, it's still saddend me.

the music didn't help

Okay, that is NOT the last one, someone photoshopped that, I know which comic that is from too (he's gesturing to it saying how stupid the assignment is) The last comic is Calvin and Hobbes sledding, I remember when it came out and I cut out that comic from the paper (actually I can't find my cut out).

That YTMND certainly made me sad though :( I love C&H... have everyone one of the books (Including the huge three bound editions) and I have every comic from 11/19/1985 (first) to 7/2/1995 on my harddrive (I'll have them all on december 31st)

Calvin and Hobbes is by far the best comic strip there is. Get Fuzzy comes in second, then come some of my other favorites like Pooch Cafe, Sherman's Lagoon, Pearls Before Swine, and Bloom County/Opus (only because I love penguins.. oh and yes I do like Dilbert, but it's certainly doesn't entertain me to the consistency of the others I mentioned, it fits in with Fox Trot, Boondocks and Zits).

If you really like Calvin you might want to check out Frazz, personally it pisses me off, but it's an obvious attempt to show what Calvin's life would be like when he's a young adult (and a fucking janitor!?!)

(I wrote a program that goes and fetches various comics from all sorts of websites.. the three major syndicates and some others and compiles them all on one site for me to read every day when I get to work... I currently have over 34,000 comics at about 1.3GB... I like comics)

Any of you ever hear the theory that Fight Club is actually Calvin and Hobbes when he's an adult? There is some paper on it (http://www.metaphilm.com/philm.php?id=29_0_2_0) that is a VERY interesting read. Jack (Calvin) starts a club for guys (GROSS) and fights his imaginary friend Tyler Durdin (Hobbes). Tyler Durdin thinks Marla (Susie) is hot and Jack hates her. And Robert Paulson is Moe.
