A feral cat decides to have kittens in the hay barn at the zoo. We manage to round up the mom (for spay and release) and all five kittens. Four of them are promptly adopted, leaving one that nobody wants. The supervisor announced Friday that they were calling Animal Control, where a six week old kitten has about an ice cubes chance in Hell of getting out alive.
So naturally I have to go take a look, and I pick him up and he snuggles into my cheek and purrs. And of course I bring him home. I name him Spike after my favorite zoo animal.
Back up to 12 cats. Somebody hit me with a bus!

And here I worry about caring for one!

That's so sweet. A tad excessive but sweet. On the bright side, it beats having a dozen children.

The smell of cat shit in your house must be overwhelming.
Big heart though, go you :)

Spike. Did Mike name him that, as something he's going to jab into your head for bringing home ANOTHER cat? :D
With that being said, if a cat needs a home, Kimm's home is the best place. She's best with felines. :)

Naw, if you came into my house you'd never know I have cats unless I let you into my cat room. My guys have their own room, set up with highly washable walls and flooring, and I ream it out every other day. It has two windows with perches and a screen door for air circulation and to give the cats visual access to me and Mike. There are several cat beds scattered around the floor. The only furniture in there is cat furniture, which I made out of PVC pipes and old carpet scraps. The cat beds go into the washer whenever they become soiled, and the carpet scraps are changed and discarded as needed.
I guess I've been working at the zoo too long, I don't have pet cats as much as a cat exhibit. <g> My guys seem pretty healthy and happy, tho, and my house remains clean.

Haven't told Mike yet. I totally lack the balls.

Just stick it in the cat room and see if he notices.
edit: And when he does, just be like "Oh, where'd that come from? :?: "

But you sure don’t lack the pussy! :groan: Ok that was bad...
How about some pics. It’d be interesting to see what the cat habitat looks like.

It IS a great room. They all look so cute sitting/lying in there, staring through the screen door. It looks like a baby room only it has cats. She did a great job with that room. If you would close the door to that room, you would never know she had cats.

Thanks, CT! I'm pretty proud of it. And yeah, Backlash, that was so bad I winced. The camera is already packed, so can't do pics, tho I'll take a few in the new house when we get to whatever box the camera is residing in. My last day at the zoo is 13 December, so I'm hoping to move later that week. Artha had a good idea. Maybe with the move and new house and cat room he'll never notice lil ole Spike.
