yeah. Junior year sucked.

/agree Junior year is a bitch. Plus by the time you're in your Sr. year you've already applied to college w/ your GPA & SAT.

Keep us posted on the SAT scores when you take them. Though I'll have no clue since they added that third part.

I got suspended for 3 days because I slapped some freshman for being a dickhead in the cafeteria. The last meet for the math team was after school at another school on the last day of my suspension. I went, competed, won, and then the school disqualified my scores. They lost the meet without my scores, I was kicked off the team and given 3 detentions of which I served only 1. Teams consisted of 5 students, maximum 2 seniors and 2 juniors, 5 teams. I was ranked 3rd overall before having my scores disqualified.

Awesome scores Bob, congrats! Especially in an honors curriculum. Try not to slap anyone in Senior year though. You don't want to be on suspension the day the college recruiters come around :)

Nice grades Bob. I agree about HS being easy, though to be honest, you usually don't realize that until you are out of it, and in college. Then after you graduate college, you realize how easy college was.

In any event, nice grades! Next time, don't slap, punch.

My brother and I graduated in the same year. 1983. He was the valedictorian. He went to college.
He works for the state of Mass and makes about 40k a year.

I was ranked at about 150 out of 250. I drive a truck and make about 75k a year.

Yah he got better grades. But I had more fun.

P.S. My son just graduated from high school last week. Yeah!
P.P.S. Congrats Bob, keep it up.

You need some "banned from chess" slash "Chess Lyfe" slash-slash "I slap freshman" ink. That'd be hardcore, yo.

Also, did you at least leave ring marks and/or sap the kid with a gigantic marbleized rook?

Even the principal deserves to, at the very least, choke a bitch-ass on Freshman Friday.

GPA of 3.788 yields 2nd place? Yikes, I had a smaller class (little over a hundred) and there were always like three or four people with 4.0s, they weren't actually smart, they just did their work.

You'll probably blow away whoevers at #1 with your SATs though.

I'm posting after myself a lot today.

Sean of the Thread

308? Small school. The valedictorians had to have a "show down" because there were so many 4.0+.. obviously some classes yield more than 4. SATs while retarded.... is where it's at man. Pwn them catapult yourself into the future.

<<GPA of 3.788 yields 2nd place? Yikes, I had a smaller class (little over a hundred) and there were always like three or four people with 4.0s, they weren't actually smart, they just did their work.>>

GPA of 3.802, and I'm rank 18. 4.233 for this year, and I'm 2 for just this year.

<<308? Small school.>>

~1200 students between the 4 grades, and it encompasses 3 towns. Suburban school.

<<You'll probably blow away whoevers at #1 with your SATs though.>>

I hope so. I got a 930 in 7th grade (550 math 380 verbal) and my math and English skills have only gone up.

Celephais
06-22-2006, 02:18 PM

Edit: 7th grade, I just assumed you meant like this year or last... sorry, still seems lower than I would expect.

<<Were you not trying? No offense but that sounds awful for you.>>

I was 12 and in algebra I.

<<sorry, still seems lower than I would expect.>>

Heh, I was actually pretty disappointed by the verbal score. I did it as part of the Johns Hopkins youth talent search, and 550 in either subject in 7th grade was the minimum to be considered really fucking cool, so my math score was pretty good. I just really want that verbal to go up 400 points, and writing to not suck.

<brag>Regarding how awesome I am at math, I recently received a certificate acknowledging my excellent score in the Fitchburg State College Elizabeth Haskins Mathematics Contest.

hard to believe #2 in your class is that low of a GPA

We had something like 400+ ppl in my graduating class, and 30 some were CGPA over 4.0 Valedictorian was something sick like 4.6 or 4.8.

Congrats on the grades though, I wish I would've put a little more effort into HS, though I turned out alright.

4.233 is low? It turns out my friend is #1 for sophomore year with 4.372. He's #2 overall now with a cumulative 4.13, and I'm #18 overall with 3.802.

Skeeter

I read it wrong. I thought your 3.802 was #2. makes more sense now.

Keep in mind different school systems have different grading guidelines.

In Fairfax County, an A is a 4.0, and there are no minuses given out (at least, not when I was a student). Grades for AP courses get an additional 0.5. The highest GPA at my school was a kid who got straight A's and also took 12 AP courses.

I think he had a 4.2 something.

Looks like rank is determined by QPA (quality point average) and hence why I quoted the GPA of 3.788, not the QPA.

... Wait you get a 0.9 with an F in Technical classes? WTF...

<<Looks like rank is determined by QPA (quality point average) and hence why I quoted the GPA of 3.788, not the QPA.>>

For serious. And a GPA of 3.788 is still between A-/A. 4.0 GPA is very rare in my school.

<<... Wait you get a 0.9 with an F in Technical classes? WTF...>>

Yeah I saw that earlier and wondered what was up with that, too. I don't even know which classes are level 4.

Okay I found them in the program of studies. Basically, you have to be so stupid that the department must recommend that you take the class.

Here's my schedule for next year:
Honors Physics
Latin I
Honors Chemistry
AP Calculus
Honors History (AP History was the same period as AP Calculus :()
AP English

Makkah

Latin I as a Junior? Our school had that offered in 8th grade.

You would be better off taking it a little later, I'd think.

I couldn't take French IV or accounting, and Latin was the only acceptable class left. I'm still in the pwn zone as far as class schedule.

I went to a pretty big Catholic school (it was the biggest in the country in the 70s) and I had around 510 in my class. I don't think 300 is small for one grade.

Doughboy

300 per class? Jeebus, that is small to me at least. I think I had around 1200 in my graduating class. Like 6000 in the school at the time.

Edited to add:

Yay for horribly overcrowded Miami schools!
