Anyone know if you can alter the sorcerer books used for planar shifting? And if so, does it have to be done before or after attuning to it?

Yes.
Dunno, probably doesn't matter.
Would be a merchant event. After I expect.

Dont think the premie point alters would work?
Also, anyone know how the deepening and lightning works? Is it set on a scale? or based on the item?
Deepening and lightening generally add 10% capacity or lighten 10%. So if your item weighs 10 pounds and you get it lightened expect it to weigh 9 pounds after.
Yes, you can alter them. No, attunement doesn't matter.
Since they are a newer item, an alterer's scroll might work since I'd imagine the code is cleaner.
Might as well try it, but yes, people have had them altered.

Oh and you can only deepen/lighten an item once.

I have met a merchant that wouldn't touch them, and actually caught a special sorcerer merchant going about with the ability to alter them. Since then, the books may have been opened up as alterable by all.

I think Isondra (spelling?) did Linsha's. I ran into her by accident and it wasn't a problem having it altered.

Cool, sounds good on the alters..
But WTF, you can only lighten or deepen once per item? And its only 10%? How freaking useless is that.
Unless you're Tsin you can only have the item lightened/deepened once.
