View Full Version : Why aren't Scimitars good?

I guess this is just a general question; I've always avoided scimitars because they "aren't good", but I'm not really sure why I think that. Am I wrong? I'm presuming they have bad AvDs and DFs in comparision to other OHE weapons. Thanks for the help.

Google image search also answers your question.

They are tweeners, not that greatest AvDs, but not very fast. In GS4 you can use a scimitar if you want, it won't kill you, would be pretty cool for a tehir.

Yeah, what a pitiful weapon!! If you've ever held a scimitar, you'd know how fucking amazing they are.

Edit: Here's my scimitar next to my longsword for comparison.

Bob's, not so much. I was hoping to be the first to make a horsie comment though. :(

I'd like to see the incorporate Kukri's into the game. That'd be freakin awesome.

They're Nepalese short swords used by the famous Gurhka regiments throughout history and in WW2, for any who don't know. Their geometry makes for incredibly powerful, quick strikes.

They still use them now.

I'm aware. There's also a small group in the US which trains in these weapons (I'm a part of said group). They are also used by Jordanese special forces units.. I know this because I know the man who trained them.

I wasn't trying to insinuate that the blade is dead. It was used in actual combat scenario's during Vietnam and killed multiple Vietnamese. I was just trying to give a very brief history lesson on the origins of the blade.

Kukris are modified daggers in GS.

OMG check out the mokume gane on that blade!!

Its a metals technique that they usually use in jewelry because it is SO time-consuming. If you Google it, there comes up sites explaining how its done. Its suppose to look like woodgrain and I believe is a Japanese technique. Beautiful blade.
