Is there any real reason to come back to GSIV? I've been gone for a couple months, and there seems to be a considerale volume of negative statements about the current state of the game....

Is there anything that's improved? Anything cool going on? Anything that makes everyone go 'Yay! I'm glad I play this game!', or is it still the 'I'm addicted, and don't know exactly why I play, but I do anyway.' thing?

If you didn't like it before, mechanically, you probably still won't like it now.

Finding a good group to RP/BS with is the best bet for staying power.

Nothing has changed in the game for the few months that you've been away.

As far as goals go.. they're not doing very well to meet them.

Good deal. Thanks! I've been trying to surf in the forums a bit to get an idea of what may or may not have changed....but the task is titanic. You all just shortened it considerably.

Edited:

Posted a bit hastily...what goals haven't been met? Same stuff they were working on months ago?

Buddy...you've been absent for a few months and you're wondering if their goals have been achieved?

Did you only play for a few months before that?

Big changes in the immediate works are Artisan Guild Improvements to include the re-release of cobbling, smelting, and Guild experience.

To come back or not. It really only depends on what you wish to get out of the game. Sure there are a lot of negative comments, but as text mudds go, I think Simu's products are the best.

Present company excluded, 'checking the forums' probably isn't the best method for seeing if a player-base is disgruntled or not. I recentely came back from an absense, and Im enjoying GS4 as much as I did before.

This is true. These forums allow folks to vent with out having their posts pulled. I think GS4 is much better than it was back in the GS3 days. When I came back after being away for 5 years, I was surprised on how much better it was. Sure improvements can be made. Is the player base smaller than it was before? Sure is, but i think that the folks that remain and play are the ones that really enjoy what the game has to offer.

I say come back. Try it again. If you get mad and hate it, leave.

Find yourself a nice group who's willing to RP and take it seriously. (Nothing wrong with beginners either) and you'd likely find the game more enjoyable. Nothing dramatic has happened in the past few months that I'm aware of and now that I've quit I'm slowly losing my desire to return. I needed a break and my life turning to shit was the ideal way to leave. Heh!

Give it a chance, if nothing sparks your interest, quit.

Thanks for the opinions! Looks like I'll be back and causing mischief soon, then.

Plat has a free 3 month trial.
(You still have to pay the $39.95 Premium Subscription.)
Give it a try, right now there's an influx of people testing the water,
and hopefully a growing player base. For the extra $10 a month, I feel that I get my moneys worth in gameplay.
