View Full Version : How long did it take you to Master Voln?

I've done 'the other society' enough, and frankly I'm sick of it. My personal vote is to rename it the 'long-weekend society', because that's how long it takes to master.
So I open this question up to the many voln masters out there- How long did it take you? Personally, I'm thinking of doing it myself by on my THW warrior by just 2xing brawl, and Voln-fu'ing my way to mastery.
Thanks.

Aaysia joined voln at around 12 trains. Mastered at 18. I can't remember how long it took me using an rl time frame =/ Couple of months maybe?

Took until ~title.
Could've gone faster if I'd never used any favor at all til mastering. Note that I resigned my 2 masters and put them in the other.

Well, as handy as the other society is, I think I'm going to prefer Voln because it gives me the option of hunting undead when I can't find a live-creature worth hunting. (shrug).

Took my paladin from level 3 to 21 to master. This character was primarily played only during XXX and hunted the undead exclusively.

Two years? I hated hunting and I was lazy. The main reason I stuck with it because I'd never mastered before and Linsha joined before symbol of dreams was changed. I later had her join CoL for RP reasons. Given the choice I wouldn't do it again.

A couple years the first time around.
Then, once I got a good grip on the fundamentals, about ~3 months starting at lvl. 3 & ending at a bit above title.
I took a 29 train sorcerer through voln, he mastered somewhere at 34 trainings (GS3 level scope). Took me a better part of a summer. And that was using as little favor as possible (staying off the voln channel, or other hunting aid symbols) and hunting Castle Varunar continuously outer than eventually inner ward. By the time I mastered I had over 200 spins.
7 years, 1998-2004. At level 26. When you are a powerhunter like me, things just come quicker.
Also, I know that's not a record because Naina took 10 years to master voln.

Couple of months. I was able to hunt with folks that were older than me so the favor came quickly. I did it because had never mastered it before. Personally I don't like voln. I felt shackled to them. The notion that I had to hunt undead in order to gain the favor.

Is it possible to go down steps by using too much favor? Or do you just have to fight more undead to 'recharge' it?

you can't lose steps and if you don't have favor you can't use favor.
Can't lose steps, just go down to 0 favour.

The first time I ever mastered it took me about a year and a half.
The second time took about 6 months.
The third and last time I decided I didn't want to put up with the shitty system, so I cheated. My friend let me use her account which had an old cleric on it, so I just MA'd it, using her to bind the undead, and then killing it with my brawling ranger. Once I got Kick II, though, I was able to do it solo. In total, it took about a month.
It was the first and only time I MA'd, but I considered it worth it.
Conversely, it took me about four days to master CoL.

Took my oldest wizard 3 days to master -- these were ~8 hour sessions. This was also back when Cone actually had a punch to it before growing pains. I'd sit him in Varunar and just cone the hell out of everything. I never used any favor before mastering. I was racing with another wizard, Meffridus and he mastered in the same amount of time.
It took my middle warrior (Meges) one or two months, but I kind of cheated with him and used haste-fu.

It took me less than 30 days after I rolled the character.

Roll up a n00b and SOCIETY RESET in the Path to Enlightment. Try moving around a little.
...And you thought that monks were supposed to be peaceful!

My first time it took me about 5 years. After that it was less than a year. Usually master shortly after title. It really depends how much effort you put into it.
