I broke down and decided to upgrade to a premium account tonight. I was then informed that not only will I pay an additional twenty-five dollars a month, but the first month is pro-rated at an additional amount bringing my first month's total to almost sixty bucks. Thanks but no thanks.

So, I'll probably buy a couple of more character slots and call it a night. Sixty bucks for one month? I like the game and all, but dayum.

I'm beginning to wonder about Simu's billing strategy...they're charging a near-ludicrous amount for a game which is quickly being outmoded by WoW, EQ2, Guildwars, and the like. I suppose they're still coining off the niche market of players who really do love the GSIV world.

Civ looks like shit and sells millions of copies. People who are interested in gameplay are interested in GS4, not 'uber graphics'.

It's the same reason live action role play still exsists, and D&D and many other not graphic role playing games exsist. Some people just prefer imagination to worlds that are limited, such as WoW etc.
