Arcane Symbols?

Hi there,
I'm thinking of starting a new rogue, and I had a quick question. (First off, I'd like to say that this rogue would be a locksmith, but with enough other training skills to be able to hunt like-level). My question is, which is more important- getting the 25 ranks of Arcane Symbols first, or getting up to 404 first? Also, what are Arcane symbols used for? Scarabs, I would guess? Thanks a lot for the help.

I'd go with a couple ranks of Arcane Symbol and 404. Symbols will help make sure you can disarm the scarab once it hits the ground, but you won't get it on the ground if your disarming skill isn't up to snuff anyway. I think I had five or six ranks and noticed a big difference in the amount of scitch-scritch messaging.
