Saw this and started laughing.
[Cherryth (faint)]: "Just a quick thought...Most empaths are offended when someone eats herbs in our presence. We learn from healing, some of us it's the only learning we get, you eat herbs in a way it's stealing learning from us"
s>
I appreciate the empaths and i tip well for healing...my empath hates it when folks eat herbs but he can accept it.
Empaths... I really despise most of them.

They must be taking it to heart too because I just saw this:
Swargdiest reaches for a rose-marrow potion.
As Swargdiest comes in contact with the rose-marrow potion, a thread of swirling gray magic issues forth from it and coils around his body. It whirls malevolently around him for a moment and then disappears within him.
Swargdiest removes a rose-marrow potion from on a darkly stained wooden bench.
s>
Swargdiest seems a bit weaker than before.
s>
Swargdiest scratches himself uncontrollably!
I wish I could be cool enough to do something like curse herbs and potions on the benches in the major gathering areas of towns.
I'm sure someone thinks that is hilarious, but that's a super ass-holish thing to do. Really.

Maybe its the name? Why is there a "th" at the end? Maybe because Cherry was taken or something, but then add something that makes better sense, or perhaps sounds better? Whatever though, to each his own.

Maybe it's because of the one topic I had about her in Character Complaints titled "Hi, my name is Cherryth and I don't understand." Both of us realized that she was dumb.

You're never going to win with certain empaths. Either you're too lazy to carry herbs since they can't be at your beck and call, or you're hurting their feelings and taking away their learning. I really hated being an empath after a while simply because of the other empaths. I've never seen such bitterness among their own profession.

I'm not sure where they find the time to heal or complain about herb usage in between sanct patrols anyways.
P.s. I quit cursing things on benches after it became annoying now that there are fines for it.

You break the sanct, you're reported. As I've found.

You're never going to win with empaths. You're actually never going to win with sweeping generalizations. I've never seen people so hasty to generalize from around a dozen bad apples to hundreds of people. Stop the puffaphobia!

Also.. if someone doesn't want healed, my empath generally says "suit yourself, I'm off to kill things." :)

She's not the brightest crayon in the box, obviously.
Satira is an empath and if she sees someone eat herbs she assumes that they prefer not to be healed by an empath.
I doubt there are that many empaths with a detailed storyline about why their character is offended when others eat herbs around them. If someone feels that way it's almost guaranteed they're some idiot player who is only concerned with omgpwn!1 leveling up or they haven't quite grasped the fast pace of healing yet, so they're being a whiny bitch.

I wonder how many of the same empaths that feel this way are the same people that bitch when people expect them to heal just because they're an empath.

Funky. God forbid you do something that requires effort to get EXP.
If they want EXP that badly, they should get 25 ranks of swimming and then park outside the barrier in OTF.

Stop the puffaphobia!True, I added "certain" to my post so that it wouldn't mean all of them. But I will say that I've played several kinds of professions in GS, and empaths are the ones that are the most vindictive, competitive, and nasty to each other than any other profession, IMHO.

There are simply certain healers who are going to bitch about anything. Doesn't matter what goes down - if its not to their specific advantage, they're going to be fussy.
Of course, if I sat in Town Square for long periods of time with the insane bunch, I'd probably be just as moody. That's why my healers learn to hunt - to stay relatively sane.

Snapp, I never understood why someone would be an empath if they didn't want to heal..however, I wouldn't be telling people they couldn't use herbs if they chose not to use an empath.
I certainly wouldn't make a public service announcement either..lol

Snapp, I never understood why someone would be an empath if they didn't want to heal..
I started to hate healing partly for some of the above-mentioned reasons, and I wasn't giving up my main character that I'd spent a ton of time on. So now it's actually become part of the RP for my empath. He heals himself and once in a while if no one else is around, he'll heal a friend or two. I made it more into a vanity-issue for him (No scars, getting dirty, etc). That's why. :)

i'm curious, I have an empath, and I just don't understand why you would make an empath, or even HOW you could make an empath that doesn't hunt? That would mean they wouldn't spend their training points or something, because at 6th level, you get bone shatter....mind boggling really, not to mention they are pretty good at hunting
Czeska
06-04-2006, 08:10 PM
Heh.. "pretty good".
Unless it's for RP reasons I don't understand it either. Of course, not everyone has a clue.
CrystalTears
06-04-2006, 08:20 PM
Because maybe they like healing primarily and don't want to hunt if they don't have to?
Not everyone has to play for a sole reason. The fact that empaths have that choice means people are going to make it. Not sure what there is not understand.
Be perplexed when empaths never want to heal or clerics never to want to raise, then wonder why they didn't pick another profession.

06-04-2006, 10:03 PM
My empath not only doesn't hunt, but is utterly incapable of it. I don't even want to mess around with skills configurations since I don't have to. My main concerns are harness power, spell ranks, and transformation lore (I think that's the healing one). Anything else isn't worth worrying about; I get more than enough experience and money from healing.

Naessi glances at Cherryth and motions to her group.
Naessi's massive group breaks out into a fit of herb eating! Look at those teeth go!
Someone in the group chews loudly on a piece of pothinir grass and spits a seed at Cherryth.
Another person in the group chomps loudly on a ball of ephlox moss.
Two halflings near the back of the group are busy gnawing away on a single piece of acantha leaf.
Cherryth looks at the massive group in shock and her head explodes!
Naessi's group breaks out in cheer.
Naessi says, "My work here is done."
Naessi's group just went west.

Satira very rarely hunts. I'd rather interact with other people. I usually enjoy it in a group, but otherwise it bores me. When I'm healing I'm always chatting with the patients.

Rephrasing my earlier comment, since after rereading it it sounded.. yeah.
I don't understand empaths who say empaths "can't hunt". I understand choosing not to. It's just that it would make my eyes bleed to do nothing but heal.

I'm getting to the point where I'm gonna have to figure out how to hunt with my empath, to keep my sanity.
Healing is very sporadic in Mule, as I'm sure it can be anywhere else.

He only heals himself though, and doesn't touch another person.

Chica gestures at you.
With intense look of concentration, a pulse of pearlescent energy ripples toward you from Chica!
The dull golden nimbus surrounding you flares into life. It glows brightly for a moment, then disappears.

You shudder with severe convulsions as pearlescent ripples envelop your body.
You are crushed for 65 points of damage!

Strike to your temple cracks open your skull!
The deep blue glow leaves you.
The very powerful look leaves you.
The white light leaves you.
You feel less confident than before.
The air calms down around you.
The light blue glow leaves you.
The brilliant luminescence fades from around you.
The tingling sensation and sense of security leaves you.
The silvery luminescence fades from around you.
