okay, since there's no decent creature information anymore (the coven list seems to be really outdated), I've been working on a creature spreadsheet. I've spent a good 10 hours on it so far, and I've got good info on most creatures 20 and below. I'll post it soon.
if you want to help, send your hunting logs to gibletty@gmail.com. Try to sell your skins 1 by 1 so I can get info on skin price. also try to LOOK at each creature, as I'm taking info on
if you want to do significant research, more than the hunting you're already doing, let me know and you can co-author it.
thanks guys..

i guess I should put more info...
1. here's the stats I'm currently collecting:
min level
max level
AS
DS
CS
TD
spells
abilities
skin
skin price
possessions
2. here's the stats I intend to add information on later:
TD vs. each circle
gen rate info
treasure info
3. any contributors will be acknowledged.
I think it's a great idea but I don't know how many people will contribute. Your best bet might be to get a high level character and just go survey as many areas as you can.
Also, a couple years ago the PSInet library had good info on some critters but I think it got wiped out, might want to check it though.

In regards to LOOKing at each critter, are you trying to get a description of them all? If so, you can check out the play.net bestiary for all of the critters listed there. You can at least get the descriptions off of it.

Is the play.net beastiary complete (for non-invasion)? I haven't looked at it or anything but wondering if that would allow you to have a sort of "percent complete" or "still need info on..." for your list.

figure about 95% of all creatures in game are listed on the search engine of the beastiary, excluding invasion/quest.
As for grabbing things like AS/DS, it will be rough with creatures genning at +/- 5 levels. And skin price again is fucked in GS4 with the furrier taking down the price with a lot of like skins being sold and if the creature is over hunted.

okay, no contributions yet..heh.
anyway, to answer the various questions:
I'm LOOKing at each creature to see what they're holding, not the DESCription. also, i've got a different entry for each critter for each area in which they appear, to show different possessions & other slight differences, like different AS with/without a weapon, different DS with/without a shield, etc.
the bestiary has MOST critters, but not all. I'm using every critter on Tsoran's maps (and organizing them by which map of his they're on), but not even Tsoran has all correct info - he's missing soldier ants, for one, he's got some levels wrong, like icemule crocodiles, etc.
yes, random levels make things more complication, but it certainly doesn't make it not worth doing. The most ambitious part of me wants to have the AS, etc of each critter for each level at which it gens. I've got one page on the spreadsheet for all that info, but it's pretty blank still, so far. For now I'm marking the observable level range, and the AS, DS etc for the base level, ie whatever's listed in the bestiary.
plus, you're right about skin price, but I assume every skin has some wide range from which it never deviates. I assume there's perhaps 10 or so "categories" of skin values, eg extremely low, very low, low, etc. for instance, a hobgoblin scalp is perhaps extremely low, a ghoul nail is perhaps very low, a leaper pelt low, a panther pelt average.....etc.
Right now, out of 428 creatures, I have more or less complete info on about 150. My highest level character is 17 so that number will rise very slowly unless people want to start helping me.
If I get a little help on some of the higher level critters, which takes all of 10 seconds to email me your logs, I'll gladly post up the spreadsheet...

oh, and i've no interest whatsoever in watering down the spreadsheet by adding invasion critters. thanks.

Didn't they implement a system whereby if a critter killed a PC, they would "level up" and become more powerful?

Yes.

Speaking of that system... anybody ever try "powerleveling" a critter by sacrifcying some toon to it several times? ... (sorry if this is a threadjack)

I've got a base sheet with creature, base level, and location based on a post Grendeg put on the officials, derived from Tsoran's maps. Drop me a U2U with your email address and I can send it out to you, if you like.
