so, back in the day, when i last played, the landing amunet was the place to buy everything. now it seems there's quite a few more places to go. what i'm wondering is, has anyone noticed a difference in the basic prices for items of similar quality, based on where you bought it from?

for instance, say i'm looking for a 4x flaring weapon. would i perhaps get a better price on the amunet, player shops, official boards, PC boards, etc.?

i've noticed that many of the player-run shops have stupidly high prices. on a side-note, does anyone know or have experience with the rate of movement of items in those shops? seems like for low-end items, only the cheapest listing on playershops.com would sell, and for high-end items, you'd want a more complete description than what you can get in the shop.

not really looking for data or anything, just opinions, anecdotes, whatever.

If there's anything for bargain basement prices on playershops, then chances are it'll be sold out as soon as someone notices it. Which is why it only seems like outrageously priced items are on there. Lots of people use their shops as a locker extension.

When I used to have a whole slew of altered weapons, runestaves and armor for sale, I noticed they went off the shelf fairly quickly. At 1.2m a piece or so, one or two sales a week is faster than I can get them made if I got items altered specifically to flip them.

4x basic gear tends to sell fairly well in newbie genning towns like Ice, Landing and Vaalor.

High end gear is difficult to find a deal on for a variety of reasons.
1) People are more likely to do searches for 7x to 10x gear, if they find a good deal they'll snatch it up. Or if it is too low it'll be bought for immediate re-sale.
2) The tax on the sales goods means people mark up the price above what it'd normally be to recoup that expense(if they're sane that is)
3) People selling in playershops aren't in a rush and are willing to wait for their price

I've gotten some decent prices on 5x gear for around 500k or so before. A friend of mine snatched up a pin worn, 6lb, large container for only 100k or so once. So deals are out there!

We need some sort of mail system to haggle with shop owners. Most things I see are way overpriced and not worth buying.

There are definitely some good deals on playershops.com. You just have to have a lot of patience wading through a lot of the crap.

Some kinda haggling system would be nice for playershops.. just not sure how it would be possible.
