So I'm in need of a good, even decent, gift idea.

When I was seeking an internship this summer, I had a couple of family friends help put me in contact with some people in Indianapolis. One of those individuals did a great deal to assist me in obtaining the position I got. I'd like to show him my gratitutde, but I'm not sure exactly what/how?

I was thinking a gift, but what? He's a late 40s managing partner at the most esteemed law firm in Indianapolis. I don't know what his interests are and I'm not sure how to go forward from here. Also, I don't know his home address. Do I find that out or just send whatever I decide to get him to his office?

HELP!

A plastic mold of your penis is great for almost any situation... it's a can't miss gift.

A lawyer in his late 40's? Easy. A hooker and blow.

On a serious note, I would say you can keep it to something simple - maybe something with your school logo (or his). Just send it to his workplace - the gratitude is the message you want to get across, not the gift.
