Question about CD Burners and Burning Programs

I'm having an issue with my friends burner here, no matter what program i use for some reason even when i have a blank CD in the drive it says insert a blank CD, its a DVD-RW, i was wondering what would cause this and how to fix it.

Personally I use NERO and it rocks on multible drives and configs.

To me it sounds like the drive is fekked up and not reading the discs. Post some more info such drive brand, system, type of blank media, etc.

Be sure to update all drivers as well.
