View Full Version : Characters?

I am thinking of letting two characters on my account go, and post them up for sale. The advice I am looking for, is what..if anything is the draw to buy said characters. What do I need to list about them, what isn't important, and how in the world do you price such things?
Thanks,
Merji's Muse

Age, race, gender, profession, skills, fixskills or not, society, society reset or not, if their a cleric, can they convert......Bascially just list the Info and skills, should cover about everything we need to know. Don't forget to take their names out....
Culture reset availability is also a draw for some.
Check out some of the characters posted on eBay (www.ebay.com) or gsauctions.com (www.gsauctionscom) to see what other people are doing when they advertise their characters.

Ok, first character. I haven't really played this gal for about three years now. She's got some fairly decent equipment, she's not high level by any means, but a good start. If you have any further questions, just send me an AIM at Ldy Merji. I've no idea about pricing these sorts of things, so please if you have any idea what she might bring just post. I believe I will sell for silvers. Thanks.

She has not re-set her culture, so it should still be available. Comes with some good standard equipment, for her train. No friends to speak of, no warnings, no conflicts.

This gal has alot of neat fluff and rp articles that go along with her. Nice containers, nice bows/crossbows, and clothing articles. She also has a unique hair feature alteration. I enjoyed playing her, but she's been not been seen in game hardly at all in the last two and a half years. No friends, no warnings, and no conflicts. She has a very unique and good name. Same deal, going to sell for Silvers, if any questions or what have you Ldy Merji, on AIM.

you'd likely get 40 each if someone was being generous, otherwise, 20-25? Thats just my opinion, you really should list their equipment, could raise their value some.

Shit fixskills is coming and I forgot all about it.
Unless these characters no longer have any real value to you, you might want to just hold on to them for sentimental reasons. Young characters are worth very little as they are a dime a dozen and I don't think many people are buying characters to have a good roleplay experience with, someone like that is more likely to create their own character.

No kidding, the only benefit of buying a 20th level charachter is to not go through the trouble of the training... but then you've got someone elses stat placement even with the fixskills.

Hmm, your probably right, I am only wanting to organize and downsize, so perhaps just selling off equipment is the right way to go?
I'm facing a similar situation with the liquidation of my accounts and the characters therein. Having a range of characters from a 28 cleric, 41 sorcerer, 59 wizard, 80 rogue, and a 100 empath, I made the decision to let all but the ones under 50 go since their retail value is minimal at best.
Since your's are of such a young age, I'd recommend just letting them remain dormant on your account. If you're a premie subscriber then there's no expense to you for doing so.
I went through a house cleaning about 2 years after starting Gemstone with my account(s) and deleted the ones which I did not wish to play or pay for. Then 18 months later I paid 15 bucks to SIMU to pull one of them back out of the delete bin because I decided to play it again.
As was earlier mentioned, your gear would probably bring more value than the sale of the actual characters themselves. I recently sold off a lvl 25ish bard and sold it for either 2 or 3 million silvers, I forget the exact amount. That equates to 30 to 45 bucks in cash.
My two cents since I've been through what you're considering.

To further his thoughts, females are worth even less, unless someone is so desperate to find....nevermind

I regret letting my old characters go for sale now.
You're not the first one I've run into that is returning to Gemstone with that sentiment.
Another reason why I'm keeping the two I have under lvl 50. Its my addiction's back door should things change and I return someday.
For now I'm looking forward to the change of life without Gemstone.
