Please correct me if I am wrong. But it seems to me that as one gets older in trains, unless you skin, heal, pick pockets, be a merchant, enchant, put resistance on armor or smith locks, getting silvers and decent gems gets harder and harder than it was when I was fresh off the turnip farm. Could one attribute this to fewer and fewer new characters being created and ever less new accounts being openned at Simu? As the pre exhisting population gets older in trains, the choices to hunt, and learn, narrow down and get smaller and smaller. Therefore the older places to hunt get over hunted and the younger places just stock up on silvers and gems.

Hunting pressure and all that jazz begins to squeeze the wealth out of certain areas, especially the easy spots. Its most noticable when you hit 70+ and there's less than a fistful of areas for any range.
However, the best place to gather up coins that I've ever found was OTF. There's no place for the creature wealth TO get squeezed for 95+ stuff.

Yah all critters over 70 trains are very poor.
So stay young, its not worth it.

Of course, you can always underhunt someplace with wealthy critters.

OTF has been significantly lowered lately; this is likely due to the influx of new hunters (combined with all the old fucks that hunt past cap).

Lower stuff has been rather decent. I was pulling plenty of emeralds/UC Diamonds/ rubies/ 20lb+ boxen offa monks and liches on the other side of the MC. Moved on to pookas, they were pathetic, but Shadow steeds will drop a decent gem every now and again. They'll give me enough for about 20 deeds per level, so far.
So, I can say, some of the younger critters are underhunted (the ledge being an exception).

Seems you almost have to if you want anything. The other night I had one of my younger characters hunt ogre warriers at Vaalor. They used to be notoriously poor. But last night I made more silvers from them than I do hunting older creatures.
I have talked to some of the younger characters and they are pulling big boxes out of Near to Far. The Kobolds in Solhaven are pretty wealthy for their age. Not uncommon for the 99 lb box to be found.

There were rumors that older areas were going to be released in the future to try and spread some of the overhunting by the older characters. Has there been any word on this?

That sucks, I remember when the Nations were first released it was harder to carry everything back and find a locksmith than it was to get the stuff.

People farm the *HELL* out of OTF. It devastates the treasure quality, until the system resets itself. I imagine the Rift will have consistently better treasure than OTF.
