Have you done it? Seriously? What is your excuse?

I have and continue to, at times. Seriously. It's inexcusable.

Text-based dreams? Of course I haven't had one. That would be silly. :)

I almost never remember my dreams and if I actually dreamt in text I don't think I could ever hold my head up again. Or look in the mirror for that matter. I'm not a geek... really.

I used to have nightmares of my characters going demonic. And they were nightmares.

Totally fucked up?

Yes.

You have mad skills to put spaces after ellipses and utilize proper period placement.

Sure. Anyone who plays GemStone for a long time is bound to have one.

Just like anyone who reads a lot is bound to have a dream where they're literally reading their dream. Or anyone who codes will have dreams in C++ or whatever.

I haven't had any text-based dreams as I stated earlier... though I have tried to LOOK while in a DOS prompt and I meant to type DIR.

I have.

I have no excuse, either.

Yep yep, had a couple of text dreams. All black screen with white writing too. The first one it was all my RL friends having a normal conversation via text, so weird!

I've had text dreams. Also dreams of my main char going demonic.

I once had a dream in LISP too, which was an indication to A) get out of AI immediately, as well as anything that relied on interpretive languages, and B) stop being a computer science major.

Yet I stuck with Comp Sci til they gave me the piece of paper with the Latin on it, and I'll probably stick with GS too.

I haven't dreamed in text, but I've dreamt about playing GS and fantastical things happening.

I've dreamt in text, fps, isometric and two dimensions in my days of excessive GS, CS, X-Com and Worms 3 playing.

I had a couple text based dreams when I was playing GS way way way too much.

I think the dreams where GS leaks into real life are much more disturbing.

Or when you're awake but incredibly tired (and drunk), and begin to ponder using Voln Fog to get home faster, but wondering if you have the favor.

Luckily, I've never had dreams in text.
At least that I can remember, and I can typically remember my dreams.

Never. I've dreamt of things that happened in GS before but only like twice. Course..I also very rarely remember my dreams and if I do it's not entire dreams, just parts of them that are pretty vague.

I have had text dreams, IM dreams too. I'll take them over nightmares anytime.

When I had my characters waiting for hours all night for an alterer on the WD, I dreamed of playing GS. Looking at a screen, watching the text and sometimes melding into it so I'm no longer looking at text through the screen.
I realised I was a freak at around that point.

I've had dreams where it's not quite text-based but not quite reality either. I don't get why people think dreams have to be "defended" though.

To start, rarely do I remember my dreams but...

When I first started playing GS an I was playing like a fiend I had a dream where I was playing (the dream felt kind of like I was floating in a black void with white text flying at me, and when i thought about "killing a rat" the text would appear)

I have dreamed everquest when I was playing that, and I have gotten severly drunk and tried to issue EQ or GS commands to IMs... including prefixing all my conversation in one IM with /gsay (group say in everquest) and complained to the person I was IMing that I couldn't see my mana bar so I couldn't spell them up. (This girl did not play everquest... nor any video game, and was completely confused)

I have most definatly LOOKed in a DOS prompt. I have dreamed of coding before, and actually come out of a sleep with code on the "tip of my tongue" that I had to get down right away.

... I never dreamed X-Com though... I'm jealous, that's awesome. Did you only move a certain distance and then had to sit there and wait?

I hate to admit it but yeah, I've dreamt about GS. But not text. I guess I dream what I imagine when I'm playing. It was really weird too. I was me, but in my character's body. I was trying to convince people I was not actually my character but everyone just thought my character had gone insane.

I know how to form sentences.. really.

To start, rarely do I remember my dreams but...

Nor do I, which is my reasoning, perhaps, to feel even more unsettled by the aforementioned. That, or the presence of text-based dreams in relation to other mundane forms of not-awakedness seems more easily… memorable :-X

I have most definatly LOOKed in a DOS prompt.

My greatest concern has been that in the slew of my "L" fuck-ups via an IM, at least half of the IM receivers will fully understand the extent of said fuck-up ::cringe::

I've had dreams in full text before. Also ones in half text, half reality. It's definitely odd when you are thinking something and the text will fly across the screen of the dream.

Or I've had dreams where I'm playing the game and then I'll actually be IN the game and I can see Augie doing things but I'm like walking along beside her.

Definitely wierd. And I've dreamt in Code before too....especially when I was writing my webpages.

When I first started playing Gemstone, I remember having text dreams for the first three weeks. It got rather annoying.

Sometimes I'll have dreams where I'm playing gemstone. When I've woken up I've actually been irritated because I've felt like I put so much time in getting expierence but it wasn't Real!

I hate those dreams.

It wasn't a text dream, but last night I definitely had a dream that Michiko was pregnant. :wtf:

I do it all the time with anything that I've been staring at for hours on end. You name it, text game, graphical game, work or school projects, driving...

Twice I've dreamt I logged in to find I had -exp, something like -17890 or something and in my dream I'm thinking "Wow I must have really pissed off a GM with my antics last night!"

But something odd I have noticed is that I can never really read anything in my dreams. I'll try and the words will either get jumbled or my vision gets blurred or something. I've dreamt of phrases but I think my mind is just filling in the blanks as the actual act of reading something is impossible.

Latrinsorm

I remember some Batman cartoon where he says reading in dreams is impossible, but I've definitely received information in a reading-esque fashion in dreams. It's not *really* reading, but nothing is really anything in dreams.

Re: Michiko's contraction of the preggers: She probably figured she should put those child-bearing hips to use!!

Was that the episode where either Batman or Robin gets stuck in the Riddler's dream machine and then either Robin or Batman has to come rescue a bitch ass?

I also feel somewhat more normal considering all the feedback this thread has received about its original abnormal topic. w00t.

Batman was trapped inside Scarecrow's dream machine and got HIMSELF out because he's P I M P. Robin probably jerked off the whole episode.

The closing scene, Comissioner Gordon is rooting around in the wrecked machinery and fishes out some gizmo-whatzit and says something like "dag what's this?" and Batman goes "the stuff that dreams are made of". CUE THE MUSIC.

Deeeeyum. Your Batman knowledge is scarily l33t (and l33tily scary.)

Thanks for the clarification.

I've have been able to read in my dreams and remember it exactly. Is a pretty weird yet oddly good feeling. Hard to explain.
