Lucellana is informing you that she wishes to have no further interaction with you OF ANY KIND! She desires that the two of you go your separate ways and have no further contact.

I think it is, as there was no warning of any kind. My rogue was just stealing in the Park, nothing special. Am I wrong?

SpunGirl

No. If this is the only interaction the two of you have had, she's clearly a warn whore. What a crybaby.

thanks for clearing that up SpunGirl!

that's so sad though...I've never warn interacted ANYONE and I've been warn interacted 3 times for stupid reasons.

The first was Jadah, because I was "talking to her at the same time as she was talking to someone else and it was confusing [her]"

What's the matter with GS today?

Warn is an abused verb, and has been since its release.

Was there reason to me for her to warn you? Nope.

Warn is a great verb. It lets you cut out the idiots completely incapable of roleplaying without having to go through any long process through GMs. Having said that, yes, it is highly abused.

Asha

Also it's not always guaranteed to work.

Actually, the idiots tend to cut themselves out by warning everyone

That was a lame warn. Just keep emptying her pockets.

Shalla
03-26-2006, 07:43 PM
I think you were playing in-character and should not let this warn interaction get in the way of your roleplay. If she reports you, she will only be laughed at, or informed by a GM that she is in fact wrong and that you are only doing what a thief in game would be doing.

Needless to say, 1st warning won't be looked into unless it's a major issue.

Necromancer

Actually Shalla, you don't need a reason for a warn interaction. And as long as they abide by it, you're required to abide by it as well

Trust me. If someone warns you to stop you from stealing from them, it won't hold any water. Just keep on doing it.

Um No. If someone warns you for ANYTHING, and you don't respect it, you're in potential trouble. the only exception is if they're not respecting the warn. (this assumes warn interaction). Warn harassment works differently. Using in game mechanics like stealing does not set off warn harassment per se. You can keep doing it. Casting an offensive spell (even bind or silence), using a cman, or attacking someone, however, does, unless it's retaliation. Stealing repeatedly with the intent to harass, however, CAN be construed as harassment. It's often an isuse of how you go about it.

Warn is a toothless verb because people abuse it so much. I've been warned a few times for no good reason, I don't remember by who because I couldn't give two shits about the warn verb.

If someone warns you for the sole purpose of keeping you from stealing from them, regardless if they've caught you or not, no one's going to do ANYTHING if you keep plugging away.

I would know.

Warn Combat was the only useful Warn.

I don't think there is such a thing as warn abuse. You can warn anybody for any reason.. you will however have to avoid interaction with that person for every reason.

The only abuse I can attribute to the warn verb with respect to this situation is when it's used in place of roleplay. This is a good example of that.

A GM would say "tough shit.. its their prerogative to warn for ANY reason" in my experience.

A GM would say "tough shit.. its their prerogative to warn for ANY reason" in my experience.Oh no doubt. It just serves to make the warner appear to be less of a roleplayer. The "abuse" I speak of is purely in the context of that particular poorly roleplayed situation. You abuse the effectiveness of the verb when you're using it in place of roleplaying basically. The verb really carries no weight in game as can be guaged by the replies of those who've been warned in the past.

Nine times of out ten the person doing the warning ends up breaking it anyway. It's ineffective, but anyone can certainly warn for any reason.

Leetahkin

I definitely think that was abuse.
Roleplay it out, being stolen from. Chop off the stealers hand, etc.

That warn was dumb.

Necromancer

Yeah, people don't realize that WARNS don't really go straight to the GMs. They just get filed away in the system. You have to do an Assist afterwards if someone breaks the warn, or a REPORT. So basically you go through all the same steps you went through before the verb was released, but you have a little more on your side if you warned someone, and they didn't respect it (provided you respected it).

Well, most of the GM responses Ive seen to stealing complaints sum up to: Learn to close your containers and use the bank. It would be inconsistent if they let you use warn as a get out of being stolen from card.

Parkbandit
03-27-2006, 12:56 PM
WARN is not a viable way to stop getting stolen from. Close your containers. Use your bank or a hand for coins. Using WARN for the sole purpose to stop thieves from stealing stuff from you will get you no protection unless the thief is stupid enough to stop stealing from you.

Otherwise, why wouldn't everyone just use WARN against every rogue they meet on the street? LOOK AT ME, NO ROGUES CAN STEAL FROM ME BECAUSE I WARNED THEM ALL!

Worst verb of all time by far.

I've had a few people try it on me, PB. Some of them I wasn't even stealing from. It doesn't work. All it does is get them put on my pink list.

If I wasn't stealing from them before they warned me, I sure am afterwards.
