Only movie I've ever walked out of. Fucking stupid to the extreme. Discuss.

I thought it was pretty good for what it was... along the lines of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
What, were you offended by the whole freakish mutant rape thing?

Not really. Rape scenes in movies don't necessarily offend me, but depending on the context they are presented in, they can bother me. Example - The General's Daughter. The rape scene in that movie was central to the plot, totally horrific, *I* thought a tad overdone, but it was pretty much the basis for the movie. The rape scene in Derailed wasn't that bad, also necessary. This movie? Just shock value, scene after scene of it, and that was like an extra added bit.
Like when he drank the parakeet's blood. Please, wtf was that? It's like the director said, "he, we have some extra stunt blood here, let's have him drink it out of a bird."
We walked when the guy in the wheelchair gave what I THINK was supposed to be the "tie-together/puzzle solver" speech about what the origin of the people is (in case you were too stupid to piece it together from the title sequence and the newspaper clippings). When he said, "boom, boom, boom," I was already out of my chair and walking out.
IMO, scary movies are movies that freak you out without having to use 203948209384 gallons of stunt blood. White Noise, The Ring, Stir of Echoes, etc.

I saw Inside Man instead. It was pretty cool.
I was gonna watch it out of boredom. I honestly think this review was the final straw in my decision not to.
Also ~ White Noise scared the shit out of me.

=/ White Noise wasn't scary... and I get scared pretty easily. I was freaked OUT at the Ring.
Haven't seen the hills have eyes but uhm, I doubt I will now. That and I haven't heard about it before today either lol.

usually if you remake a bad movie. It's still bad.

I thought the ring was dumb. I havn't watch the hills but isn't it sposed to be campy type horror anyways?

I haven't enjoyed horror movies since I was 14. A good thriller I like.. but not creepy freak out slasher crap.

Sounds like Hostel. I came VERY CLOSE to walking out of that movie. I finished it for finishing's sake. But it sounds like the same thing. The movie was basically how close they could come to making you vomit in an hour and a half.
Definitely won't be seeing this one.
Bad horror movies are the best kind of horror movies, because they're so bad it's hilarious. Ex.: Stay Alive.

I'd agree with you Michiko, like, Cabin Fever was so bad I was laughing half the time. Unfortunately, this one didn't even have that going for it. I'm just glad we didn't actually pay for it.

Yeah, I can't wait for Silent Hill either. :D

I reccommend Inside Man to just about everybody...V for Vendetta to the non Republicans... and Stay Alive for horror/amusement. The Hills Have Eyes (which I've been forced to watch twice) is pretty damn bad.

I think that Silent Hill will be awesome. I hope it's as freaky as the game. There were nights I would sit here watching Steve play Silent Hill and the house was all quiet except for the music and I'd get goosebumps from some of the crap that freaked me out.
Can't WAIT for that movie.

V for Vendetta was awesome. I saw that with James 2 weekends ago and it will definitely be one that I own on DVD when it's available as well.

Snakes on a Plane is gonna be SCARY AS HELL
I really did like The Hills Have Eyes. I liked that they strayed away from the standard horror-film white female character saving the day idea and made the hero a geeky IT guy that works in a cell phone store.
I liked the voices in the darkness that were scaring the father character when he went to get help from the service station.
I liked the idea of waking up in a locked freezer full of severed body parts and not having any room to move around.
They did a lot of good things in The Hills Have Eyes. Yes, Spungirl, there was gratuitous violence. I lump horror films that have gratuitous violence into their own category which I judge separate and apart from films like The Blair Witch Project, The Grudge, The Ring, and White Noise (which I thought was horrible).
What I'm REALLY looking forward to is Silent Hill. That video game was scary as hell so I hope they do a good job on the movie.

Meh, I didn't think The Grudge was that great. The lack of resolution irritated me. What didn't you like about White Noise?

Been awhile since I've seen it.
As I recall there was the whole thing about there being three violent 'bad ghosts' that were killing the people that were into the whole white noise thing, right? They never explained what the whole deal was with those three guys and the ending was absurdly predictable.
<<What I'm REALLY looking forward to is Silent Hill. That video game was scary as hell so I hope they do a good job on the movie.>>
Only if the film includes ethereal ghosts of babies, laughing eerily until they fall to your feet crying.
I think that was the freakiest part I can remember.

The previews for Silent Hill totally give me the chills. I'm so stoked to see the werwaoPOWeij;alksjdf!!!!
I can see what you mean about White Noise, Ebondale. I think I just like the kind of movie that gives me creepy scary goose-bumpy jumps.

My wife loved White Noise. I thought it was kinda 'meh'. :)
Honestly the movie that scared me the most was Blair Witch Project. Hear me out, though -- I went to see Blair Witch on opening night totally under the belief that it was actually real. I'd seen the documentaries leading up to the release of the film and all of that PLUS I'd spent a week hiking around the area that the film was made during Outward Bound and yes, it is a freaky area.
I totally thought that shit was real.
Have any of you seen Kairo (Pulse)? The English version that they're coming out with looks COMPLETELY different from the original Japanese one... it makes me sad. :(

Mike and I didn't completely hate Hills Have Eyes. That could be because we went into it with really lowered expectations, just looking to kill a boring afternoon. We ended up liking it better than the original. Good popcorn muncher movie.
We loved V. I didn't really expect to like that one, and was really pleasantly surprised by it. It was gorgeous and gave us a lot of basis for bull sessions.

Coming from a guy who thought Freedomland was a great movie I'll take that as a compliment.

Blair Witch is one of those movies that you either love or you hate. I'm not too fond of it.
I just saw Stay Alive...lame. Not a terrible movie, but not scary unless sudden motion and loud noises frighten you.

Stay Alive is NOT meant to be taken seriously.
