Ok you number crunching weapon experts... dosen't this seem odd? Look at the end rolls and the damage.

You swing a diamond-edged black vultite longsword at a mountain ogre!
AS: +186 vs DS: +38 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +94 = +279
... and hit for 70 points of damage!
Right arm ripped from socket at the elbow!
The mountain ogre's broadsword falls to the ground.
The mountain ogre screams one last time and dies.
Roundtime: 5 sec.

You swing a lion-crested beveled vultite longsword at a mountain ogre!
AS: +186 vs DS: +28 with AvD: +37 + d100 roll: +74 = +269
... and hit for 83 points of damage!
Hard slash to the mountain ogre's side opens its spleen!
The mountain ogre screams one last time and dies.
Roundtime: 7 sec.

The diamond-edged longsword has damage weight.

The bevelled longsword has steam flares.

Does it strike anyone else as odd?

well, the second one you are either weighted down, or ambushing.

As for the damage, not really. I do that with my longsword (no weighting at all) on ogres quite often. They are not wearing much armor :)

you hit the arm in the first one, abdomen or back in second location of hit makes a diffrence in how much damage you do

The added crit damage is influenced by the area you hit like Edine said.

Chest and abdomen bleed the most if I am not mistaken. Hands bleed very little.

Edit: You should get two shots with the same end roll and the same crit message to compare the damage weighting but I don't think that was your point... I think you just thought it was odd and wanted an explanation. Correct?

Thanks for the info. What I thought I was seeing was damage/crit weighting on the beveled longsword with steam flares. Others have remarked that it appears to do crazy damage, but thats just because its a longsword. Didn't realize different parts were damaged differently.

I checked the low end damage results.

Diamond-eged roll 102 = 6 damage to leg
Beveled roll 106 = 1 damage to leg
