Just was kinda playing around with creating a new character and would like to create a bard. Training to be a Pole Arm user with emphasis on gem purification.

Any Training suggestions?

erithian bard? point of this? i always thought erithi were pretty pointless. and elves get a bonus to influence, as well as aura.

Erithian Bards have the highest stat bonuses when you combine DIS and INF.

Elves have terrible DIS.

I'm told training 1x in Harness Power isn't as good as Training 1x-1, because you get less mana. Or something like that. So there you go.

Heh, you sure do like to bump older threads (not a bad thing).

I wouldn't say it "isn't as good", it's just an issue of diminishing returns. You're getting less mana for the same training point cost, but it's still better than the return on investment from greater than 1x. So if you're tight on points, yeah save the one rank.

How big a role does influence play in purifying gems?

Probably not much. I'm curious to know how much Mental Lore, Manipulation and Spellsongs known factors in though.
