[Script]!SR>
[Ice Plains, Master Quarters]
You have entered upon what looks to be a gathering room for the upper class of this small colony. Two large wooden tables are set parallel to one another around a large fire in the center of the room. The fire has just been tended to and generates enough heat to warm the entire area. Several cupboards line the far wall and hold eating utensils and primitive crockery. You also see an arctic manticore, a storm giant that appears dead, an arctic manticore, a cold guardian and a morning star.
Obvious exits: northeast, south, west, northwest

SUMMARY:

damage: 1
flare: 35 dmg + 8 round stun + 6 pt 3rd degree abdomen bleeder
stunman attempts: 0/5 succeeded
stunman master: you'd better f-ing believe it

Who else likes the fact that I have no trouble just open offensive swinging the cold guardians and even though the storm giants knockdown, make gas clouds, and are 10 levels higher... I have the most trouble with the arctic manticores? This is definitely NOT the first, nor second, nor third time this has happened.

Everyone knows that the Mants cold crits are mean.

I cannot even remember how many times that has happened to me hunting those things, you just gotta except it if you are going to hunt them because that crap happens.

Any square/semi who has hunted behind the rolaren gate hates those damn manticores. Keep in mind though that if they didn't have those crits they would be roltons. They have nothing else.

They are pure food. If you are a swinger, just keep in mind that if you have a 225ish DS in offensive stance you are invincible to them. If not then just be careful and avoid them as best you can or hunt elsewhere.

DaCapn

yeah... my DS basically exactly that, it just so happens that EVERY time they roll a 95+ they hit me with an 8 round stun. They would still be hard if the max stun was 3 rounds... seeing as how they come like 3 at a time.

-DaCapn

PS Just fell to the 8 round stun death AGAIN about 30 seconds ago, 2x in one night... weak. On top of that... wtf is with bleeding down past -2000 HP after you're dead?

Just stay out of swarms and stance dance. It might require walking out of the room and waiting for stuff to come in, but it works.

Find a ranger to cast nature's resistance against cold on your armor. It really helps a lot against cold crits. I'd do it for you but I'm going to be out of town over the weekend.

Edited to add pm me if you want this done and don't find anyone to do it for you. I can log in this weekend long enough to get the potions made and then do your armor Monday evening. My ranger can give 44% resistance on up to decent padded brig for 150+ hits. I'll do it at cost for the potions for you as long as you agree to tell your friends how great nature's resistance is. :)

<< happens that EVERY time they roll a 95+ >>

Have you tried hunting in ADV vs OFF stance? Most critters past that level will have manuevers, flares, and/or spells - hunting is so easy in this game that they are needed for balance.

Most capped hunters still die in OTF, yay!

An Ithzir scout swings a gleaming crystal-edged broadsword at you!
AS: +411 vs DS: +442 with AvD: +35 + d100 roll: +100 = +104
A layer of shifting stone absorbs 1 points of damage!

Hard blow, but deflected.
Not much damage.

** An Ithzir scout's crystal-edged broadsword emits a searing bolt of lightning! **

... 30 points of damage!
Horrid jolt of electricity smokes your shoulder blade!
You are stunned for 7 rounds!

heh, that scout thing is pretty funny. All of this aside, anyone know why you can still bleed deep into negative blood after death? I mean, isn't that impossible by definition? I am currently losing about 8 hp/second and am at over -6000 hp right now.

What makes them annoying is that if they don't have a chance to hit you they immediately turtle and usually go to another room. I recommend rerolling as a warrior and getting berserk, berserk >> stunman.

I'd recommend going to the Deep Freeze side area of the trail to Icemule. Only Titans and Guardians there, just have to keep an eye on weaponfire. The rolaren gate area just isn't worth the hassle.

Yeah, frost giants have the same stupid cold flares. I had some 2x HCP doubles on, got a 104 endroll, 1 point of damage, 20 point flare, and a 6 round stun to the guts....guess I'll be findind a ranger sometime pretty soon to resist my armor

The only time that happens to me is when I"m bleeding and had sign of staunching up before I died

the negative hp's dont matter though because you're dead and as soon as you're ress'd you'll have at least 1 HP

I loved this area. It was during the late 20's, early 30's time when Stay really prospered as a rogue. It led up to the painful lower 40's. Suffice to say I never found it that difficult as they'd die, invariably, after one hit.

Arctic manticores = incredibly easy. Same with frost giants.
