I read a post from Czeska and my initial thoughts brought me to what I see in society today. I'm not trying to say any of what I write is what she did, as I know nothing about her pregnancy other than that she was pregnant. It's just one of those things where my mind catches information and runs with it.
Anyways, her post said that she was going in to induce labor so she would give birth on the Ides of March. For one, I thought that would be really cool to have a child on that day. For two, I'm biased about March (of course).
But it brought me to thinking about society today and how we can be convenienced in giving birth when we want to, and how we want to give birth. Aren't C-sections on the rise, especially among celebrities?
It makes me think back to an era that I never knew, an era where you gave birth in your home and had a doctor come there to perform the birth. A time before hospitals existed, and epidurals. A time when the baby told you when they were coming out, not the opposite of today.
To be honest, if I were to have a child, I would want to bring the child to the world on my terms, when I felt it ready. I heard a story around the Superbowl that a lady went into the hospital to induce labor to ensure she did not miss the Superbowl! Now that's a dedicated football fan.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with saying it's convenient for the female to give birth, so induce her. I think it's a societal norm now.
Anyone else have thoughts?
Please remember, this is not in any way talking about Czeska being induced. It's about me reading about it and then brainstorming about society.
Btw... Czeska - Congratulations on the new life you've brought into the world. I hope you're fully enjoying every moment bonding with the little one.
