So I went and bought a Linksys wired router because I'm planning on putting another computer in my house and also to hook up my PS2 and XBox. Router's hooked up perfectly, internet works. FUCK! Don't have any spare cable to hook up the PS2, run back to the store, pay $10 for an extra ethernet cable (WTF?!) come back, hook up PS2, no internet...now what?

Just a guess, but maybe you need to set the router to open ports for the PS2?
192.168.0.1 in your browser to access the router
user name is probably admin, pw might me admin, or just blank.
Otherwise try this-

And then you can also try this. (http://www.googleityoumoron.com/)

You bought a Linksys and 192.168.0.1 isn't working? Hrm, I was pretty sure that was across the board for Linksys.
I'd just have to refer you to the Linksys docs then. And that PS2 page.

Linksys is usually 192.168.1.1 ... if not check the manual, it'll tell you

Browse the CD, PDF documentation?
Or give us the model number and we might find it for you something online.
I have to run for a bit, but that info would help.
Have you read the PS2 link yet?

I read the PS2 before you gave it to me actually, I was googling around and found it. Thanks though. I tried 192.168.1.1, it asked for my name and PW, now I'm at a screen and I dont know wtf to do.

Fucking shit go throw yourself off a bridge already or GOOGLE the manufacturer's website for fucking help on the DEFAULT for your model. Usually "admin" and password just hit enter. (blank)
It's just a damn router for crying out loud.

I called tech support, got the usual fucking indian, god why is all tech support in fucking India, and he told me he couldnt do anything, he seems to think its a problem with my Playstation's ethernet port. So I tried a different playstation and the problem persists. wtf

Fuck it, the shit works now. It seems the ethernet port on the other PS2 isnt working for some reason. Now this PS2 is working fine, for the moment.

Linksys routers are 192.168.1.1 account admin password admin by default, btw.
Port forwarding is found (on my model) in the "Applications and Gaming" menu. It depends on your firmware.
