View Full Version : Powerhunt to 25 Wizard plan?

Looking for a training plan or some suggestions on how to most efficiently powerhunt a wizard up to level 25.
Right now I've been following a pure plan, and at level 7 I've been doing 2.5x spells, 2x harness, 2x aiming, 1x miu, share, and symbols. This isn't that efficient, due to generally slow killing times and mana limitations. Plus, I'm having trouble finding things to hunt that are generally easy and not crowded as hell.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've been hearing things about 2handed hasters, but I'm not sure if I'd have the money to support that at such a low level. The wizard was just rolled up last week, so it's still in its grace period, so I can change anything around.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

2 handed hasters in my opinion aren't a good idea for low levels. This is because you'll need to get to at least level 9 so that you can cast both haste and strength. Its tough at lower levels but at higher levels you'll have more MjE ranks and Air Lore so that your Haste spell is more effective.
If you're having such a hard time with mana restrictions why not ask around and see if anyone is selling any backpacks full of wands? Aquamarine wands, slender blue wands, golden wands, and crystal wands are my favorites personally. With an arsenol of these you should be able to breeze through firephantoms, fire guardians, snow spectres, and things like that.
Those are great hunting areas for wizards.

Yup, wands was going to be my suggestion.

I just wanted to say that now that I have switched to Plat I have changed Ebondale from a sorc to a wizard.
Currently I'm 2.5x in spell research, 1x in brawling, .5x in shields, 1x in armor (to 27), 1x in PF, 1x in arcane symbols, 1x in MIU, 2x in spell aiming, 1x in perception, 1x in elemental mana control, and I train Harness Power so that it is equal in ranks to his current level (1x-1). That gives me +3 mana each level.
I still have lots of leftover TPs each level and plan on spending those points on Air Lore and Water Lore when I title and actually have use for them with major shock.
I would be 2x in spell research, actually. The ONLY reason I 2.5x in spell reasearch is because there aren't many players on Plat and I'd like to have quicker access to some of the more useful spells for the community like disks, mass blurs, and strength.
I'd recommend 2x in spell research, personally.

Fuck lores until you're older. Your plan looks pretty solid. Concentrate on spells and HP. I'd hunt the following in order:
Rats til 8
Spectres til 15
Wraiths til 20
Wights til 25
Pookas til 35

I'd suggest sword/board til 10 then haste weaponry of some form til your old enough to have a healthier supply of mana to be pure casting on... at least it worked for my Mage quite well. /deposits two silvers

Pure trained 2.5 spells, 2x HP, 2x spell aim, 1 MIU, 1 arcane, 1 PF, 1 Perception, .5 armor, and a single brawling train.
Rats to 2
Lesser shades in Icemule 2-5
Dark appartions, vysans, phantoms Icemule cemetary - 5-9
fire phantoms 9,
fire phantoms and fire guardians 10-16
(903 phantoms, 907 guardians)
Took me 2 weeks to get that far, I don't know if thats powerhunting, but
I was happy with the progression.
Someone suggested wind witches and thunder trolls next, but I haven't tried em yet.
Good luck!

Why do only one brawl train, by the way? Does it really make a huge difference for DS?

Hunt all of the things I wrote scripts for.
That is... hunt:
Landing - Rats, 0 to 8
Solhaven - Urghs, 9 to 12
Icemule - Dogs, 13 to 18
Landing - Fire cats, 18 to 25
River's Rest - Warfarers, 25 and up
You can hunt all of them very very easily using a weapon and haste and training in spells that will maximize your DS as quickly as possible.
Once you're level 25 at hunting warfarers, then you can retrain yourself into whatever you want.

Are those scripts posted anywhere?
I'm doing fairly well at snow spectres in Icemule at the moment, but the area is quite small, and can get fairly crowded at times.

They should all be available in the scripting folder, the search function is really whacky and not working, so it will be near impossible to find the scripts.
Just tell me which ones you want/need and I'll send them to you. Not that you have to script those things, but typically if a hunting area is so easy that it can be scripted, then it's a great place for powerhunting.

I read, and could very well be wrong, that a single train in brawl adds a good boost to your DF with one hand open, so I figured that it wouldn't hurt. I am in no way good with numbers, so I took other peoples word for it. :)
