Don't suppose anyone has a site or anything for a guide to training a rogue for archery? I've got fairly limited information on the subject. Going to reallocate an almost legend rogue to become an archer but not sure where to begin. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Can anyone tell me how the whole ambush/perception training adds to your AS?

I wish i had kept the numbers. Someone did a very indepth study of how much doubling tripling ect. effected the AS of the character.

But basically since strength is not a factor in ranged weapons except for rt on shooting. Your AS Is totally determined by how many times you train in ranged and your training in perception and ambushing. Currently I have a 50 level ranger who has singled in ambushing and more than singled in perception. She currently has around a 285 AS. When they are threw working out most of the bugs I am definetly going to play around in GSIV with doubling both. I dont think as rangers we can triple in either. I do know rogues will be able to triple both so it would be interesting to see if any rogue would do that and what their AS would be after.

Rogues can't triple ambush, I don't think. However, Edaarin currently reallocated in the test game at level 49 has 100 ranks of ranged, ambush, and perception. AS with signs up, e-bladed arrows I made, and a 5x bow is 325.

Well playing around in the new test server I am worried. I cant hide for nothing at least in front of orcswold stuff and thats fully doubled. The rt on bows I hope is wrong getting a 5-7 sec rt with a long bow when i have been used to 4 secs.

Oh well will keep working on it.

In the test server i didnt notice any difference with my long bow, with aiming and staying hidden it was 7 seconds. Altho my light crossbow shooting rt has almost doubled which is i hope a bug. If i shoot a light crossbow and it takes 3 seconds to cock and five to shoot and ill be kneeling all i have to say is im glad i have a longbow as ill be never using my crossbow again.

I gotta commend you archers. I tried it for about ohh 5 trainings and said the hell with it. It's just too much work for me. Gimme a pole arm vs. a bow or crossbow any day.

Achery has it's benefits to go with all the liabilities everyone points out. +50 AS, sniping from hiding., cheapest 8x weapon I can think of (besides the nagantia if it still works), decreased defense from your opponent, 3 second attacks without using mana, etc...

I actually like hunting my ranger archer more than any of my other characters.

Maybe I'm just lazy? hehehehe.. it just wasnt too much fun for me. I never swore so much as in the 2 months I had that archer.

Archery was like a refreshing change to me from the normal hack and slash with a sword. I never actually learned any techniques with swords got spelled up ran out and killed alot of things and rested. I actually learned how to really hunt when i started a character that was an archer, had to think before i attacked something, timing, what to do in swarms or which critter do you take out first (the one that casts lightning of course) and alot of stuff that well made hunting a whole lot more fun. I just seemed to love the challenge. And it is the first character I actually payed enough attention to and shes over 50 now. I think archery had alot to do with that.

I agree before i started my archer i played about eight different characters and would get bored with one and switch over. Now ive been playing my one archer for a while and it never gets boring.

The perception/ambush formula is add up each rank (not skill), subtract 40 from it, then divide it by 2. And you can't get a negative bonus with it, heh. So someone with 46 ranks in both ambush and perception gains a +6 bonus. Someone with 42 ranks in perception and none in ambush gets a +1 bonus. Basically you don't get any bonus until you have at least 42 ranks in one of the skills.

Then the way ranged defense works, you take the skill (not rank), divide it by 3, and add +20. So someone with a 240 bonus would gain a +100 DS in all stances, including offensive. It makes for a great shield alternative when swinging in offensive for those trained in other weapon styles. You have over a 10x shield. :)
