This used to be a thread on the officials, but it got canned because people got sad. I'm re-creating it because someone mentioned that maybe Amberain thought of her name out of an affinity for golden showers.

Anyone else have a funny/retarded name creation reason?

My first character, a rogue, in Dark Age of Camelot on a roleplaying server (mind you, this was my first MMORPG) was named Eternnal, and by marriage became Eternnal Soulstealer. I very shortly received an email suggesting I might like to choose a new name. Thankfully, that was my lone foray into truly tasteless character names. (In an RP environment, anyway.)

I suppose my WoW 'toons have some pretty goofy names, though it's a regular PvP server. An undead rogue named Thighs. A tauren hunter named Hips. For some reason, the thought of the 'enemy' saying "I died to Thighs", or "I died to Hips" just amused me no end. Thus I felt compelled to create said characters, for the grin factor. My own, if nobody else's. :p

My master chief on Halo 2 for X-box live is bright pink with purple markings. I think it's pretty demoralizing to be killed by the pink guy.

Oddly enough, the character name is still on my account and was offered to be reactivated.

This all occured several years ago, as stated before. I have matured a million times over, and attempt to stay IC in most of what I do.

On a funny note though, Thaxius (a bard friend of ours who no longer plays), Stunseed and I all rolled characters one night named Oompa, Loompa, and Dippity Doo. We had the outfits and everything. It was a blast for a night and then we just didn't play them anymore.
