View Full Version : Massive Vipershroud Prompt Change Kills Innocent Scripts!

Anyone who's scripting -- be advised that a few days back, they changed every other search prompt in the Vipershroud. So when you search for obscured cracks, etc., your scripts (including SBC) break. The changes are unsystematic and in some cases, ungrammatical ... so if you go in there to repair scripts, plan on spending a little time, and trust me ... check every prompt for changes.

I have some reason to believe they also changed prompting on the trip across Lake Fear (ferry to Ta'Vaalor).

If anyone cares, there's a new version of SBC 7.0 (for StormFront) at www.sahracorp.com , that (I hope) deals reliably once again with the Vipershroud. Wizard repairs to follow shortly (probably tonight). Lake Fear fixes to follow on both versions, shortly after that.

Wiz version is now fixed (at least for the Vipershroud). www.sahracorp.com

What's annoying about this is that what's mostly changed is the system's response to a "search" command. Which means other things might be breaking, elsewhere in the world.

Meanwhile, the change seems to have been inspired by someone's desire to improve the roleplay sensibility of the search experience. Instead of seeing a futile series of "You don't find anything of interest here"'s, you now see the somewhat-more-immersive and attractive-to-repetition: "You do not find anything of interest, though you (paraphrasing) notice another place to look that seems promising."

This general tightening up of search and similar prompting seems praiseworthy to me (if inconvenient for scripters). My Voln-aspiring baby sister, Mustardseed, noticed the other day that they'd changed the search prompting on the iron-ore face in the kobold mines in similar fashion.

I noticed all of a sudden my travel script kept getting hung up there. Being script-retarded, I didn't figure out why. Thanks for the heads up Sahra.
