Hey! Welcome to Gemstone and to Player's Corner! :)

What kind of weapons will your bard be swinging? I've noticed a lot of Bards with polearms lately but really you could swing just about anything you want with those Sonic crits. You'll want to make sure that you get a lot of Air Lore.

I don’t know I like two-handed swords but it is the most expensive...
I know some about the game and I have read a lot of the post here.
So should I be 1x in air lore or what?
and is Two-handed Swords a good choice?
Thanks for the fast post =)

I would at least 1x in Air Lore. More if you can spare the points.

Really any option you want to go with for weapons is viable though something with a better swing round time might be a little better because at higher levels your Sonic crits (from the Air Lore) are going to be your main source of damage. Being able to swing quickly would mean you could get more Sonic flares.

Of course with Fixskills in Gemstone these days you could start your character out with Two-Handers and no Air Lore and then fixskills someday to something like two weapon combat brawling with tons of Air Lore.

Maybe I'll roll up a bard. Another 2.50 a month isn't THAT bad.

With all the money you should be saving by not smoking $2.50 should be easy. ;)

Is Two daggers good or what I cant seem to find two short swords

Two daggers is great when you can use your sonic flares. At a young age it doesn't really do a lot of damage, though. :)

Is this your first character? If it is then it might actually be worth it just to train in edged weapons and shield use until you feel comfortable with stances and things like that and then eventually using FIXSKILLS to change your training to something that you think is a little cooler than the old sword and board.

Well... two weeks and not a single smoke... Maybe I'll roll up a bard to accompany Rada. Unless there's a better alter-ego for a sorcerer out there that i'm not thinking of, that is. I'll prolly roll up an alt once I hit 40, as to not let Rada sit fallow for TOO long.

Oh, and to keep it on topic... yea, I'd say sword and board to start. It's easier at the beginning anyway, when you're just getting used to the whole thing.

I dont think you'll need MoC as a bard really, 1030(or 35?) is amazingly powerful if trained properly. I have a TWC rogue and it's a lot of fun, with no MoC. You also don't need to 2x TWC for it to be effective, but if you swing from the open you'll need at least 1.5x in it. You also have Tonis, which helps with RT but you wont be getting that for a long while.

As far as bards go, I have about as much a clue as your friend.

It'd be nice to have a bard expert come in and post some training plans or stats or something like that. I've been pretty curious myself, my knowledge about bards is limited at best.

That said, my stats pretty much blow, but I have gotten more than enough TPs with them. I really would not recommend 1x'ing air lore. With 30 ranks, you get the -2 RT bonus to 1035 and flares quite frequently (often 2x flares). The telepathy will up the AS given to you by Kai's and help duration of renews and 1035. As you can see, I'm a polearmer (from the beginning, not one of those pricks that reallocated to polearms at like 60). Love poles, but as Ebon said, you can pretty much go for any weapon type and have a blast. Manipulation lore is also an option. Key benefits to it are upping your 1030 damage and allowing targeted 1030, upping 1004's chance to create orbed gems and decreasing rate of blowing gems with it, and Manip ups your 1025's AS. I did it for a while, and pure bards swear by it, but if you're gonna swing, go for Air and Telepathy. (And do swing... don't be one of those pussies like Gnimble.)

Anyways, that's a little taste of training advice, etc. Feel free to ask any questions, and I will respond, if I'm able. Welcome to barding, etc.

Can't access game from here, but my bard got 5 ranks of MOC and stopped. I wouldn't ditch it, but it's personal preference. I don't plan to go higher (at least for a very, very long time)
