Ok, seriously, I read that crazy conspiracy theorists had said this book was set up by the cia or fbi as a form of mind control.
Can someone please explain that one to me? it's pretty laughable, if you ask me, but I would be interested in why that's the case.

<<It has been fairly well doented that Chapman was psychotic when she shot Lennon. Before the ination, in the advanced stages of his model psychosis, Chapman sat in his room in Hawai and kept chanting over and over and over :
THE PHONY MUST DIE SAYS THE CATCHER IN THE RYE !
THE PHONY MUST DIE SAYS DIE SAYS THE CATCHER IN THE RYE !
JOHN LENNON MUST DIE SAYS THE CATCHER IN THE RYE !
This is remakably similar to Sirhan Sirhan, writing into his notebook that "RFK MUST BE INATED INATED INATED INATED" (isn't it !)
>>
Similar? They're all in caps? wtf?

I though SHM was the king of conspiracy theories. Why do you call Backlash, blacklash?
I found this interesting from the wikipedia link:
"It has long been considered "inappropriate" and "immoral" in more conservative areas of the United States. It was the 13th most frequently challenged book of the 1990s, according to the American Library Association [1]."
"Thirty years after its publication in 1945-46, The Catcher in the Rye was both the most banned book in America as well as the second most taught book in public schools."
Personally I found the book a snooze fest.

It was also the book that Mel Gibson collected in the movie "Conspiracy Theory". There were also references to Chapman in that movie.
