This is both the cruelest and funniest thing I've ever seen.

I saw that the other day and thought to myself.. man that is just wrong. Then I thought to myself it would be a good idea to do to my old lady.

Reminds me of being a kid and going to see "Poltergeist" with my parents. We got home and my dad set up my bed with a scary latex mask on my pillow, and the blankets propped to look like a body was under them.

Yeah.. I still haven't forgiven him.

Heh, that's a fucked up thing to do to a kid. Ok, I laughed at first, but only because I listened to it without sound the first time around.

That's a little harsh for a kid that young.

Holy shit that was hilarious.

Not something I'd do to a kid, and I'd punch anyone who did it to my kid.

But I almost woke my kid up laughing so hard.

You have to admire the kid for attempting to fight back with his bare hands before running away.

Kitsun

Imagine if he let the kid watch something like the Ring before doing that to him? If the kid picked up the keyboard and smashed the monitor it would've been just rewards!

First.. anyone who did that to my kid would be missin some teeth by the time I was done.. then he'd be out the door. Of course if my kid was that age, I mean.

Even the kid laughed according to the poster. At first, yeah it may be mean, but as long as the kid didn't take it personally who gives a shit? If I happened to show a kid that video, and some chick freaked out and tried to punch me, I'd probably just laugh at her and suggest she grow up.

I laughed, but I'm a sick fuck.

Oh, if someone other than me did that to my (future) kid? I'd kill their dog/cat/everythingnearanddeartothemforthepast20years.

man the comments on that vid are like a mile long. Have to say I think it was a pretty crappy thing to do to a kid that young, not only the original prank but then posting it up for the world to see him crying.

Well yes, someone in that scenario would need to grow up, that's for sure.

It wouldn't be her though.

See it's all a matter of knowing your audience.

This clip I can laugh at as if you had tricked me i would have had a similar reaction laughing and hitting you in the arm or something, but a little kid is just wrong.

I liked the one reaction: "Holy shit! Why? Why??"

After you got up off the floor, right?

You must be large, if you were knocking me to the floor.

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't agree with pampering kids until they grow up too soft and entirely sensitive. It's no surprise why all the younger kids I see are raging pussies.

If it was another kid doing it to him, you could say the lack of maturity on the kids part, was kids being kids. But.. an adult who is supposedly a father figure acting like a ass for nothing more than a laugh at his kids expense is a betrayal of trust. I scared my kids with ghost stories, when they were old enough to handle it AND they knew it was coming, it was delicious scare. Age appropriate is the key here, that kid was way to young for that.
My kids aren't pussies, reality is scary enough in todays world.

First: you dont have to be large to know how to hurt someone with a punch

Second : I have a 14 yr old son that was never pampered and I can guarantee you he is no raging pussy. YOU need to learn the differance between not pampering a kid and being cruel. I hope to God you never have kids, because the way you think they will probably grow up and go on oprah to complain about what an asshole father you are and how all their failures as adults are YOUR fault.

I'm kinda torn, as I'm going to sound like an insensitive person.

I laughed.. hard.. mostly because I've been fooled with that same image and scared myself, scared my cat, cried, screamed... I just hate them yet fall for them always.

Now I can't tell how old this kid is. Probably some will say what difference does it make. Well, you're right, it's rather mean to do to a child. But then, we don't know what kind of child this is. We don't know if he is prone to pulling pranks and this is the guy's way of getting even. We don't know if he shot some of the crying then put the camera down and calmed him down and said he was sorry. All we see is the raw footage with no background to go on.

Future step-son... heh, if he wasn't married yet, I don't think this won favors with the child's mother. If she didn't care.. well that could speak more about this entire family then. Too many factors left out for me to automatically rule it out as a mean soon-to-father to a child for no reason other than to be cruel.

Also, if the kid was 13, it'd be funny. That kid was what, 5? 6? It was at best seriously poor judgement.

I think it was funny and crappy all at once. I think CrystalTears said it best...it's all taken out of context at this point. Who knows what happened before or after the video we saw.

I laughed when I saw that, and my coworkers think I'm nut hah. But I also have fallen for those things, usually when I'm home alone and I decide to see the 'cool link' someone sent me heh.

First: No, but to "knock you to the floor" as you put it, with a punch, either you'll need to catch someone off guard or be bigger than they are.

Second, I don't think that video is cruel. Its subjective. Your abilities at predicting the future are lame at best, and most likely retarded. My kids would never watch Oprah.

I do find it interesting that the parents on this board (for the most part) think it may be funny, but wouldn't want it done to their kid.

The non-parents lean more towards the "so what".

Except Rowi, but he's always been odd.

LOL true...I'm a non parent so I honestly can say that my opinion is based upon the fact that I don't have that parental instinct because I don't have any kids.

What about the parents who shoot home videos of their pets jumping or attacking their kid and find it funny?

That video of that black cat jumping out of the bushes onto that baby is funny and everyone loves seeing it, but at the same time mean, but we can say that the parent then put the camera down and attended to the kid. We just don't know how they handled it afterwards.

Just because a parent preserved an embassing moment of a child doesn't necessarily mean it's a cruel act. Lord knows my dad filmed me doing all kinds of shit, and the pranks he pulled on me, probably as blackmail for when I would start dating. :D

Although posting it on the web for the world to see is what is more mean than anything.

My boys beat the shit outta each other at certain times, I dont stop them, i make em go outside cause you are not going to destory my house! but when one gets hurt I comfort them, then show them what they did wrong, and then show them a counter strike!!

Kids are Kids! you must teach, and comfort all at once, dont let em grow up to be pussies and such either, gotta rule with a soft touch that gets respect.

In public my kids act like sons of gods, in Private they are little shitheads, but they are my lovable little shitheads! heh.

"It's a cruel act because the parent knowingly subjected the child to unpleasantness for the the parent's amusement."

Are you kiddin me? Kids do that shit to themselves more then anything! gotta get entertainment somewhere! (just kidding) My boys prank my wife all the time, talk about some funny shit.

In Japan, they have a holiday, I think it's called setsubun, but I could be wrong. In any case, the whole notion behind it is that it's a way to chase out bad demons by hurling beans at it.

Part of the holiday is getting a bunch of really big guys and dressing them up in these really horrifying oni costumes. Then, on the day of the festival, with no warning, they will burst into a kindergarten classroom yelling and screaming. This is all planned in advance, after the kids have been taught about the holiday, but the kids don't know about the guys in the costumes. The kids get terrified, they start running and screaming and crying in all different directions, and the teachers don't comfort them. Eventually the kids will start to throw beans at the costumed guys to chase them off.

These are kindergarten kids. 5 or 6 years old. And they manage to tolerate it and learn from it and eventually have fun with it.

The Chinese also used to bind little girl's feet to keep them small so they would be more likely to have a man have interest in them. Not to mention the limits on number of kids and the punishment parents can give that the chinese government allows compared to the US.

I stand by being a hypocrite.

I find the video hilarious, however I think the step-dad is a douche and I would never want something like that to happen to my son.

This might be a different version of the holiday or a totally different holiday altogether, but there's one where they get these really big guys super drunk, dress them up in these crazy demon costumes, and then they go house to house scaring little kids and threatening to eat them if they've got bady study habits. Seeing a video of that makes this seem like, well, child's play.

Damn that was funny, the kid is a wimp he need to learn to suck it up. As far as it being cruel, it isn't as if he hit the kid or abused him. I think we mollycoddle our kids way to much these days.
