About Pop Rocks...I have to know!

I'm assuming we're all (well most of us) are familiar with Pop Rocks...the candy that pops and fizzles in your mouth when you eat it.

My question is...I seem to remember it being a gum, not just candy. I looked for Pop Rocks today and all I see is just candy, no gum. Am I right that this stuff was at one time a gum, or is my memory wrong and it's always been just a candy?

Lord knows I used to eat a lot of it. I would still eat it if my fiance didn't find the crackling so irritating. I just love how it feels on my tongue. I'd have sex with it if it could.

I did a Yahoo! search to see if I could find it..found some site with old candy and stuff...they only had the Pop Rocks candy

I will find the gum if it kills me, damnit. It's now my life's mission. That and to find a bag of money.
