Anyone tried the demo yet? I really like the way they made this different from any other strategy game, by capturing planets one by one in real time. And here I thought it was gonna be just another strategy game. It's pretty tough though, I guess I still have to get used to it. There's even mods out there that releases all of the techs of both sides..that's for when you're bored of the demo itself.

It looks pretty decent, but I'm going to wait until the actual game comes out and read reviews. Sometimes the demo is nothing at all like the final product and that really is annoying.

I tried the demo. I didn't like that you could only have a certain amount of buildings on a planet, and at predetermined locations.
I also didn't like the whole planet management aspect of it. Too much tedious micromanagement.
But, the combat itself was fun. It's just getting to the combat that's not.

Yeah I'm still up in the air on it.. however it only took like 45secs to build to "get" to battle ready in the demo.. wtf are you talking about?

In the tutorial or the demo campaign?
In the demo campaign, once you've got a bunch of fleets and special units, it's a headache keeping track of where everything is, what you've left undefended, where the enemy is, what structures you have on each planet, how many troops you have on each planet, etc. After a while, you'll forget about a planet that's undefended, the enemy will swoop in, and the only battle you'll get to fight is a massacre of your troops before you withdraw.

Oh I'll have to double check as I thought I was playing the demo single player campaign.. which consisted of pwn starbase.. then pwn Tat. So it was pretty straight 1.2.3. easy. I'll let ya know.

If you think the demo's too easy, download the full tech mod by some dude named Bryant. You can play as Empire and you also start off with a crapload of money. The AI in the mod is pretty ruthless. Just Google it up, it's easy to find.

Thx much. I thought the provided demo was extremely easy to the point where It might turn me away from a retail version.
