Trading... is it worth it?

I have a character that is training 1x in Trading and I'm wondering if there is actually going to be some kind of payoff to that? Is that actually worthwhile or am I pretty much wasting training points?

How can I actually see this skill in action? :)

Tough call, some number-cruncher crunched the numbers and a chart resulted (thanks number-guy). If your the analytical type, find that chart and make a pros and cons list. If your like me, I have a couple (20) ranks just to see how often merchants allow for trading to matter. If you're one of those characters who's tight on TP's to start with, I'd say forget it.

It really depends on how much selling you do via gems, magical trinkets and skins to NPC shops.

You figure out how much of a percent extra you're making by:
[(Trade bonus + INF Bonus)/12] and then +/- for race in whatever town.

My empath is currently fully 2x in trading at cap. Between that, her INF bonus and the Illistim bonus for elf sales I get 32% more than I would without the training.

On an average day of hunting I rake in like a million silvers. Thats approximately 240k due to the trade training. Every four days I make an extra million without having to do the leg work for it. Personally, I wish I could triple in the darn skill.

Dang, you make it sound pretty sweet Kitsun. Is the skill static or do you use it the way I used to remember bartering for goods which was using OFFER with shop owners?

There needs to be a place where Dark Elves get a bonus.

The only races with bonuses are Humans, Dwarves, Aelotoi, Halflings, and Elves, all in their respective "home" towns. It's pretty unreasonable for D-elves to get a bonus anywhere. Pariahs and all.

Dark Elf hating an all aside I still find Trading to be well worth the points I put into it. Now if they give me a dark elf NPC to sell to Ill be set.

At least someplace other than Cygaeir (or whatever) to have something other than a negative bonus.
