Been eating pretty healthy lately and I've found that I -love- kimchi.
My favorite kimchi recipe has been kimchi and ramen noodles but ramen noodles are so bad for you. I'm told that kimchi works pretty good in a stir fry. Has anyone tried this?
Anyone know any really great kimchi recipes? Anyone know any really great health-recipes in general?
My wife and I make a really great tofu pumpkin pie and I'll have to find that recipe when I get home so I can post it. Easy to make in our http://www.vitamix.com/ blender.
I have no recipes, but I've heard there was a study in one of the Koreas that found that people and animals that ate kimchi recovered from the bird flu faster or something. The only Korean I know says he'd rather die than eat kimchi, heh.

I heard that like 11 of 12 avian flu affected birds that were fed kimchi recovered from it.
I used to have a really negative opinion of kimchi but it turns out that its one of the healthiest things you can eat and its spicy, which I like. I think I'd rather eat kimchi than die anyday. ;)

I like Kimchi also, it's good stuff. I have some green onion kimchi in the fridge right now actually, that I think I'll make with some rice
This is my first post on the new boards, which I hate ;p

What, you expected your first post to be something with fireworks and a band playing? :p
Do you normally make kimchi or is this something you buy that's premade?

I buy the pre-made stuff at the commissary here on base. If I start eating enough of it I'll probably start making it. From the recipes I saw online it didn't look very difficult to do.

Why are ramen noodles so bad? Only reason I can think of is the sodium, which you can reduce by not using the entire packet. Personally, I stir up 2 ramens, drop an egg in there, and dig it.

My half-Korean husband would live on the stuff, if his sister would just make it more often. They were spoiled by their mom and hate the premade stuff.

Anyone have a good recipe? I wouldn't mind trying it. Wading through the millions of recipes on the net when I don't know what makes for a good kimchi to begin with isn't ideal.

Just try it with ramen. Is yummy.
To whomever asked what the big deal is with ramen not being good for someone (I think it was Axhinde) - I really don't know whats so bad about it apart from the sodium but Weight Watchers considers an entire package of ramen noodles to be 16 "points" and a person is only allowed to have 24 "points" in one day. That can't be good.

I meant a recipe on how to make kimchi. Though I suppose I could see if a store somewhere has it.

I have one at my house which I'll send. It is from a cook book.

I think it has MSG as well.

Ever read the side of a ramen package? One block has a pretty large percentage of your fat and saturated fat as well as a few other things, IIRC.

1 package has 13g fat, 6g sat fat. 1 package also has 1.76g sodium, which is 73% RDA for 2k Calorie diet.

Meaning that one package of ramen noodles will PWN you.

Points are relative, as Kobe Bryant demonstrated. I need concrete facts, dammit!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that you've been eating a lot of ramen noodles, Axhinde? :)
