Alright, i've been gone nearly 2 years now, maybe actually a little longer. Trying to get back into the swing of things, but i'm hesitant to stick with my old training plans, as I wrote them when GSIV first came out.

Here's what i'm looking at for stats:
Name: ****** Race: Aelotoi Profession: Rogue (not shown)
Gender: Male Age: 0 Expr: 247391 Level: 14
Normal (Bonus) ... Enhanced (Bonus)
Strength (STR): 89 (14) ... 89 (14)
Constitution (CON): 83 (16) ... 83 (16)
Dexterity (DEX): 86 (23) ... 86 (23)
Agility (AGI): 87 (28) ... 87 (28)
Discipline (DIS): 93 (26) ... 93 (26)
Aura (AUR): 87 (18) ... 87 (18)
Logic (LOG): 74 (17) ... 74 (17)
Intuition (INT): 34 (-3) ... 34 (-3)
Wisdom (WIS): 52 (1) ... 52 (1)
Influence (INF): 30 (-15) ... 30 (-15)

Those are going to change a little before my 30 days are up, but it's largely accurate for what it'll end up.

What i'm aiming for with my skills is this: Stopping armor training at 40. I have brig that protects like hauberk when you count the crit padding, and I want to be able to dodge well.

Right now i've got 2x dodge, 1.5x armor(again stopping at 40 ranks), 2x CM, 2x Ambush, 2x hide, 2x edged, 2x PF, 1x shield, 2x dodge. Well..here:

****** (at level 14), your current skill bonuses and ranks (including all modifiers) are:
Skill Name | Current Current
| Bonus Ranks
Armor Use..........................| 102 24
Shield Use.........................| 74 16
Combat Maneuvers...................| 124 32
Edged Weapons......................| 124 32
Ambush.............................| 124 32
Physical Fitness...................| 124 32
Dodging............................| 124 32
Stalking and Hiding................| 124 32
Perception.........................| 74 16
Climbing...........................| 50 10
Swimming...........................| 50 10
Training Points: 0 Phy 5 Mnt (180 Mnt converted to Phy)

Planning to stop Armor at 40 ranks, and do my best to 3x dodge.

As an alternative to that I might go for ewave.

I'm primarily an ambusher, and i've got some pretty decent brig that protects like hauberk, so I'm thinking i'll be set ont hat for a while.

If anybody has any ideas for tweaks or flat out changes, i'd appreciate it. I've been gone quite a while and i'm sure there are lots of changes I don't know about yet.

Sword and board is old! Go try out two handers, two weapon combat or archery!

That being said, your current plan looks fine. I'd recommend going for heavier armors because of the crit divisors and CvAs. The dodge penalty really isn't a big deal right now and well worth the trade off.

Hardcore get 80 ranks in armor ASAP and use MBP.

Brig is only 27 ranks for encumberance, isn't it?

Might also want to reconsider 2x PF. Maybe put into shield or something.

TWC, swing two Katars!

Edited to say: sword and bored isnt that damn bad! decent plan but id go after more armor use, get to Hauberk!

I'm trying to go heavy on the redux.

And yeah brig is 27 on encumbrance, but I want to be covered for hindrance too if i'm going to eventually get ewave.

I like the PF to offset bleeders and stamina loss, as well as the redux factor in it all. I figure eventually I'll wear hauberk or MBP for endgame and have warrior-level redux.

That's of course if I forego trying to get ewave.

Also a note about sword and board: It's old, but it works the best. I've tried them all.

And just a note about the armor use: My brig is heavily crit padded. It works just like hauberk except without the dodge penalties.

With the new training system, it doesn't make much sense to over train in a skill that won't provide any present benefits. E-wave will be a LONG way off, you'll have plenty of time to get the extra 8 ranks you need.

Good point, Edaarin. I'll probably stop it at 27 for now, probably start picking it up again once I hit 50 or 60.

The thing is, tests have shown that unpadded hauberk will protect better than any crit-padded brig on normal hits, just because of the difference in damage factor and crit divisor. The difference in dodge is completely minimal, as I believe Porcell did testing and found out there was a difference of only 15 or so DS between a set of brig and a set of full plate. Add in the added CvA too if you fight things that cast. If you plan on casting at the higher levels, get 50 ranks and go for chain mail. I was a brawling/board ewaving rogue for a year or so, and fgb just wasn't cutting it, so I switched to double chain which was much better. Right now, I dropped the ewave and picked up metal breastplate, and it's completely worth it. Here's an example shot

XXX swings a deep red vultite falchion at you!
AS: +413 vs DS: +164 with AvD: +39 + d100 roll: +50 = +338
... and hits for 28 points of damage!
Blade slashes across your face!
Nice nose job.
You are stunned for 1 rounds!

Hmm ok, so MBP it is, then. I'll just single armor for life. Better for redux, anyway. Thanks.

Brig is 35 ranks for manuever penalty, 40 for encumbrance.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd go TWC, loaded with CM/Dodge and wear MBP.

Moist Happenings

Hmm. I'd go TWC but my main weapon is an altered fel hafter, and I don't want to buy one exactly like it and go through all the trouble of having it altered.

And I couldn't use a different weapon in my other hand.

I'd have to kill myself.

I need symmetry. I think i'm somewhat Obsessive Compulsive.

I agree on symmetry. I'd look for 2 heavily crit weighted short swords, get them altered to make a brace of blades wicked and mean.

Swinging two heavy axes (fel hafters weigh like 9 lb.) would seem unwieldy even if the mechanics did not note it.

Moist Happenings

Unwieldy, yes, but my alter is this: wickedly sharp vultite handaxe bound with a sturdy leather grip

handaxes aren't so cumbersome.

Neff went TWC for a while and I used two of those veniom-hilted black rolaren long-knives with acid flares. That was pretty cool.

But it was before GSIV

Yeah, good move on the MBP, I think you were overestimating the effectiveness of redux and underestimating the effectiveness of armour. Anyway, if my ranger can have 70 armour trains by level 50 a rogue can definately get MBP before level 79.

Moist Happenings

Oh yeah, definately. I think what i'm going to settle on is doubling until 40 ranks, and then single from there out.
