View Full Version : The Rift

Well, it's about that bloody time that I give up the Temple Wyneb and head to the rift...

I haven't hunted in the rift for a long time, ever since I had my sorcerer... So I really don't remember much other than it being a royal pain in the ass getting seperated from your group, sent to differant planes, etc.

So I have some questions for you Rift Hunters.

1. What has changed in the past oh... five years since I was last there?

2. What is the new minimum training to enter the rift?

3. How does one enter the Shrine of the Drake if one has little-to-no magical skills?

4. Could someone give me a crash recourse in hunting there? I've never done it as a purely physical class before.

Thanks in advance!

1. I dunno.

2. 66

3. My script does it for me I'll tell you when I get home.

4. If you're not a pure, don't go there until you're like 70. Unless you have crazy redux.

To answer Question 3

When you get to the door, PUSH TINE, then LOOK CROWN.

Keep pushing the tine till you line up "Veil iron" and "Courage".

Then you TOUCH CROWN

Say "Aenatumgana" (if you don't remember, just LOOK and it's in the room description).

The door will now be open.

Not true, I've been hunting there ever since I could get in and I don't have crazy redux. Just have to be careful on plane 1 that you don't get nicked to death.

Lunatics have a fast swing time, so it's best to wait until they swing and then swing. They'll probably get off one more swing while you're still in RT if you don't stun them.

Csetairi can be evil if they swing 4 times at you. When one of them waves their arms, go into stance defense and be wary. They're either going to swing or cast. You have to be sure your TD is up there because they can bind you and silence you.

The naisircs are undead and a pain in the ass since they have that vine spell which can drag you down. Plus they run off while you're in the middle of hunting them.

Either way, it's tons of fun. If you want, IM me at GS4Augie when you're up there and we can go run around one.

mmm the rift. I love it.

As Augie said you dont have to wait til 70 to hunt there. Aaysia played around there at 66, went back at around 68 and was hunting there til well.. now and I'm on plane 3 and loving it.

Well Tayre was up there at like 66 and it's super super super super super easy for an empath to hunt in there. Like super.

Lunatics have shitty TD and once your CS gets high enough, Csestari's are easy too. I'll be on Plane 1 for a few more levels. I'm going to try and skip to plane 3 because 2 sux. Also I think I heard the skinnable stuff was in plane 3 and I'll make $$$$$$ there.

Thanks guys! I need to gain another level before I head up there, so... It'll be at least a month due to my limited play time.

And I will definitely be looking you up Augie when it's time to go. I need a good guide. Thanks a bunch!

FYI:

Sphere directions:
North to plane 1
West to plane 2
East to plane 3

Four you can only access by climbing the thread from 3.
Four you can only leave by climbing the thread to 5, nexus gem or through the chute (when you're dead.) There might be another method that I'm unaware of..

Five you can access from the thread on four or through the maw on 1. The thread on five takes you to 1. There is supposedly a way of leaving 5 with an Eye-of-Koar emerald and silver but I don't know how.

Staircase will take you down a plane - they are encumbrance influenced. Threads will take you up, also encumbrance influenced.

The door and mirror are the exits to the caverns. When dragging a body you can only drag through a door. Those exits move around on the planes.

Planes 1-3 have voids that wander around. I know Four doesn't and I'm thinking that Five doesn't as well.

Rifted:

1 you go to 2
2 you go to 3
3 you go to 2
4 you go to 5
5? Never been rifted on five.

You can stir up the sand in the caverns by waving when sitting or kneeling and doing some other verbs, that I don't recall off the top of my head. Almost everyone who is new gets folks hacking and coughing....you learn not to wave.

What is it about Plane 2 that makes it so avoided?

Two have seraceris (undead) casters, caedera which tunnel and arrive underground. I don't believe that they are deadly like ro'aters but they are annoying as hell. I was down there tonight and was encumbered and they weren't able to knock me over, but when I was younger...they would appear, knock you over and incur roundtime. It's just annoying overkill.

The witches are completely magic resistent. I don't know much about them other than I avoided them. Same with Warlocks on three.

Ugh. I suppose using an animate to kill them is a possible option if your necromancy skills are up to snuff. Anyone here use Animate dead in the Rift (besides you, Querthose)?

They're Vvreal so they're magic resistant. I'm not sure if animates can travel from one plane to another. Anyone know?

I've never used them, but I know Desorceri sometimes animates players to get them off 5, so I assume they can move between planes.

Anyone know if an open cast of 610 (ranger vine spell) will drag them down? This tends to work on most magic resistant creatures.

Actually Aaysia hunted on two for about 3 trains it really wasn't so bad IMO... she tended to avoid the witches (since they're more trouble then their worth) but if they pissed her off enough she would kill 'em

<3 seraceris' feint feint mstrike = dead.
I think you can skin caedera but they're annoying as hell. Yes they knock you down but I've never had a lot of trouble from hunting them.

edited to add - sneezing at the sands while sitting is bad  I dunno if you can sneeze while standing with no sand kicking up but I've never tried it

Don't forget about carrying more than 10k in coins on you when you go back into the sands.. POOF!

That'd be one reason I like healing there, even before I was able to hunt. People give good tips since the silvers just go bye bye anyhow.

Yes. Call wind works, too (unfocused cast).

there was a post somewhere.. here or the officials, I think the officials made by... I think Porcell (as you can see my memory is amazing) that showed a connection between the witches/warlocks being near a void when it went off in the other rooms and their defense dropping a pretty substantial amount, but i'm.. clearly not sure of the specifics.
