Hullo folks.

Having been out of the lands for, well, ages... I've been curious about a lot of the changes that have taken place between when I left GS3 and GS4 in its current state.

When my empath was coming up as a pure healer I had to deal with 10 second prep times hope that my sign of staunching would hold long enough to heal down my bleeders for a cleanup.

Things have changed, I know. No more preperation times for casters. No more rolling for stats at character creation. Fixskills is a new thing to me.

I just don't understand the whole strategy at character creation now. I think you get the oportunity to replace your skills five times in the first 30 days of creating your character but I could be way off.

In the Gemstone I am used to you would roll up your character and that was it. You were stuck with your decisions until you decided to retire that character.

What is best to do these days?

Should a character's attribute points be placed in such a way so that you try to maximize their number of PTPs and MTPs or should you go for maximum stat growth?

Whats the big deal about Fixskills anyway?

I'm sure I'll have more questions, but any help you guys can provide would help ease my transition back into Elanthia.

One of SpunGirl - And yes, I am blatantly stupid for paying $40 a month to play a text-based game. ;)

If you plan to cap your character go for maximum stat growth. If you don't, go with maximum TP's.

Fixskills are awesome because once a year, you can go in to the training manager, and redo all of your skills with instant migration (zero waiting time in other words). Any other time that you decided to change your character's skills, it takes forever due to migration time.

As for the stats, I'm not sure if you still get five times in 30 days to fix those. You might.

It might just be the skills. Haven't tried it yet. :D

You can change your stats 5 times.

I have a question. Because of level 0 if you single in a skill you should have trained 6 times by level 5? 12 times if you double?

Yep

This migration thing is throwing me. A training plan should be realized just before you level, not after. Correct?

How do you mean? If you're setting goals then the ranks will raise when the points are available. Gaining the physical level doesn't really matter much.

I tend to save all my points between levels and then add skills once I've gained the level, like the old days.

When I turn level 5, should I have my training complete for level 5 or will my training be complete for level 5 just before I turn level 6?

Oh, well the points you build up between levels should be for the level above so during level 5 you will be gaining TP's for level 6, if you do it the way I do.

So you should complete your training for level 5 just before or as you turn 5. There are other ways to do it though and it doesnt have to be set in stone.

I've still been doing like the old days. Waiting until I level and then spending my TPs on skills that are a part of my pre-decided training plan.

Should I be doing it differently? :?:

I do that too. What I meant was... Say during my time going from level 4 to 5 I'm gaining TP's that I'll spend when I'm level 5. These skills are the ones I intended to have at level 5. Not sure if that makes sense but it works for me!

The difference between training points is at most 1-2 a level in every case I've ever seen. Stats cannot grow after level 100 (the cap), whereas one can still gain TPs. Don't lose any sleep over it, just pick one.
Should I be doing it differently?I don't think it's a huge deal to get 3 AS or whatnot a little earlier, but I've seen people pay ridiculous sums of silver over far less, so I suppose it's an exercise for the reader.
