Yeah it's way early, but I can't wait.

Kelsey Grammer as the beast?! Gonna have Angel and Juggernaut too.

and Famke (I think she'll be dark phoenix in this one) can have my babies!

Check out some of the pictures here

I saw the trailer at King Kong. That was Kelsey Grammer as Beast? I'm surprised I didn't even notice it! Its been awhile since I've seen the trailer and I can't recall -- Is Gambit going to be in this one?

I. Cannot. Wait.

I think Kelsey Grammar's a great choice for Beast mainly just for his "intellectual-sounding" voice. I heard Nightcrawler got the boot this time around, and that there's a possibility Gambit will be in it.

Ebondale

That would be sweet if they put Gambit in it... they still haven't put my personal favorite X-Man in it -- Maverick.

I collected (and still have a contiguous run of X-men) for about 5 years in the 80's. One of my favorite comics of all time. The whole Phoenix saga was awesome back then, can't wait to see how they do it in the movie.

I don't mind that they don't hold exactly to the comics, actually makes it really interesting to me.

With all the Marvel movies they have been coming out with I wonder if they'll be doing some kind of Infinity series movie.

I loved Nightcrawler in the second movie, sad to see him go. :(

Apparently Gambit is going to be in X3, but he has a small role. Gambit + Juggernaut = awesome movie.

I've found a lot of the roles (HALLE BERRY) painfully poorly acted, with Nightcrawler being one of the exceptions. I have faith in Kelsey to reverse this trend.

Juggernaut is the best.

What would make an awesome movie (in the vein of crossover thingies) would be a Secret Wars movie.

This is apparently going to be the last X-Men movie. Though they are planning a Wolverine and a Magneto spinoff.

My brother and I collected religiously for about 4 years, and stopped right after the last issues of the Age of Apocalypse.

Since then, I have absolutely no idea what's going on.

My favorite character has always been Colossus. Dunno why exactly, but I think it stems from his badassness in the arcade game.

Colossus?! WTF boring. Fuckin Aquaman had more personality. Gambit is clearly the best X-Men EVER.

The X-3 director is the same guy that did the Rush Hour movies, right? I'm actually rather looking forward to Superman Returns more than X-Men III.

Although Tayre will appreciate this, I'm sure. Lifted from http://www.news24.com/News24/Backpage/HotGossip/0,,2-1343-1344_1849549,00.html

he new Superman is giving movie bosses a headache - because of the size of his bulge.

They fear Brandon Routh's profile in the superhero's skintight costume could be distracting, reports the Sun.

Hollywood executives have ordered the makers of Superman Returns to cover it up with digital effects.

The Sun's source said: "It's a major issue for the studio. Brandon is extremely well-endowed and they don't want it up on the big screen.

"We may be forced to erase his package with digital effects."

Brandon, 26, has taken over the superhero's cape from the late Christopher Reeve.

Wardrobe artists have had to fit him with a special codpiece for the new film out next year

OK, forget X-Men.

I now can't wait for Superman('s bulge).

Although, unless they photoshopped it out, he's not incredibly impressive.

Also, I noticed that James Marsden is in this movie too. That guy gets around.

Duh, if those are the still shots, obviously it's already edited out.

I heard they had to do that in the old Batman films too, when Adam West was Batman. Except the problem was that the guy who played Robin was hung well, and they couldn't have Robin out-playing Batman.

Did Nightcrawler have all the religious symbols in the comics too? I remember being distinctly surprised at that angle in the movie. As for favorite X-Man....don't know the comic book that well, but Gambit's card throwing in the video game kicked serious ass.

Why do they rob America of perfectly good bulges?

TheEschaton
01-02-2006, 02:40 PM
Well, that's understandable, you can't have Robin upstaging Batman.

As for Superman - I don't see why they did it either. Certainly such manliness would lend credence to the image of Superman they're trying to create, eh?

Gives new meaning to the term Man of Steel, though.

Wonder what kind of drag he gets on that thing, when he's flying, eh?

Too bad he's "faster than a speeding bullet", though. All bark, no bite, eh?

Someone stop me any time now...

Plus he was just gangsta like Nick Fury.

I may be wrong, but I don't think he could control time or anything cool. He had like, small premonitions, and could dodge attacks, that kinda thing. Either way, I think he's lame.

What if I didn't want to admit it, and instead copped out to the card-throwing rogue Gambit?

Psylocke is in X3 too. Gotta love a scantily clad british woman trapped in an asian body who is also a telepathic ninja.

Wonder how they will play that though. The woman playing her is Asian, wonder if they give her a british accent.

Psylocke was just confirmed to be in the movie, and she'll be a bad guy. Probably a really small part, if not just a cameo.

Some chick named Meiling Melancon is playing her. She's no Kelly Hu.

Of all the actors to choose from ...

I think the role of Angel has been poorly cast. James Marsters would have been a better choice, especially if down the road (fat chance of that happening but) an Apocalypse story-line was worked in and he became the Archangel.

I would have liked to see Colossus as a main character this go around. It's not like Mr Drake or Rogue added much to either movie and Colossus is 100x the X-man those two are.

Gambit is one of the coolest X-men, but in no way is he better than Colossus, Wolverine, Havok, or the age of Apocalypse Nightcrawler.

And it is generally agreed upon that becoming asian was the best thing to happen to Captain Britain's sister.

Latrinsorm
01-04-2006, 09:04 AM
Ms. Melancon strikes me as a good Psylocke. Randomly making her a villain makes me go "wha?" but I guess they had to balance out Rogue or something?

I don't think I could see James Marsters as Angel unless he lost the accent. Plus I heard he hates having blond hair.

Agreed on everything else Tsa`ahnian though (except I liked original Psylocke's psychic butterfly thing).

James Marsters is from CA, studied at Juilliard, and owned a theatre troop in Chicago. The accent he used for Spike was sheer acting.

But ya, I've heard he hated bleaching his hair ... yet he did it again as Brainiac. I always thought he had the right look for the role. Not to mention the diversity he created playing Spike through the many facets (human, to vampire, to vampire with a boner for Buffy, to vampire with a soul). He was one of the few from that series and spin-off that could actually act.

Wolverine is clearly the best male X-man. Jean Grey is the best female. Best group nemesis was Hellfire club, and the White Queen... ahhhhh hummina hummina hummina.

Apocolypse was also a great enemy, though I did always like magneto.

Tia Carrere circa 1995 would have been the perfect Psylocke.

I'll certainly give it a chance, but there is some poor casting in the two movies prior and I'm thinking the role of Angel was also poorly cast ... a la Fantastic 4.

Casting Grammer as the Beast seems right however, and it's not just the voice. It's a bit of type casting when you think about it ... but give Frasier a hunched posture and make his skin blue and you have Hank McCoy.

Agreed! And I also agree there have been some bad casting choices in the past movies...namely Rogue. I hope they cut her role big time in X-3.

Having been a fan of the comic since the original series... yes, that long ago...

The movie series has been pretty good. Marvel is really ramping up their movies lately. X-Men being the best so far. Hopefully they go beyond a threequal. Maybe we’ll get some Sentinal action.

Elektra was pretty bad not as bad as catwoman but still.

DCSL
01-05-2006, 03:41 PM
Yeah, I was not a fan of what they did to Rogue for the movies. And although I like Rogue in most of the comics, I don't really dig Gambit. I get tired of him quickly.

And yes, I agree they've made poor casting choices. #1 was Halle Berry as Storm. Second was casting a twelve-year-old boy as Cyclops. The man is not tall enough to be the giant douche bag that is Cyclops. Next to Famke, he looks like a shrimp! The man's supposed to be six foot three! Bah.

I'm also irritated with the arbitrary way they follow the comics storyline. They keep some parts in but completely mangle others. It frustrates me, as an American comic follower, to no end.

Ahem. But I won't go into that here. Other than that, the movies are pretty enjoyable. I just have to completely forget everything I know about official X-Men canon when I go into the theater. Certainly more enjoyable than Uwe Boll video game movies (House of the Dead, Afraid of the Dark). Why people continue to give that man work is beyond me...

Drew2

Hmm. Actually, I vaguely recall having an old comic book magazine (yes, I was a huge dork when I was little too) that listed a bunch of people that would be great in X-Men. It has to be like 10 years old though, from the mid-90s, so I don't think I have it anymore.

Some of the people they listed...

Professor X -- Patrick Stewart (duh)
Colossus -- Dolph Lundgren (MONEY)
Psylocke -- the aforementioned Ms. Carrere (the lips are spot on Psylocke)...come to think of it, Angelina Jolie could probably pull it off too...
Cyclops -- Michael Biehn
Storm -- Iman (a little darker than I pictured, but she could pull it off)
Wolverine -- some grunge rocker (Hugh Jackman is way better)

Hanksbane
01-06-2006, 01:41 AM
Not that I remmeber said magazine, but the grunge rocker was Danzig.

Beihn would have made a better cyclops.

As for the movies following the x-men comic storyline...I think it's too difficult. They have been around sooooo long. Where would you start? The original? Then there would be no Wolverine, which is what most people wanted to see (I wanted to see Nightcrawler).

I agree that I hate the Rogue storyline. I wonder if we'll see her gain her current powers.

Did anyone notice that Rogue and Storm lost their accents by the end of the second movie?
