I know I'm behind the times on this topic but I just wanted to mention that this game is really freaking good. I don't have the expansion pack yet but I've been playing through the campaign mode and I think I'm on the last Space Marine mission right now.

Lots and lots and lots of fun! I highly recommend it as an RTS for anyone who likes the genre. Plays a lot like Warcraft/Starcraft but has some unique twists like reinforcing your squads in mid-combat.

I played this game table top.. I think I will get it for my son. (not the table top version)

I can't imagine playing it tabletop. Those game pieces cost SO much ridiculous amounts of money, plus all the time it takes to paint all of them... A completed and painted army looks really impressive, though. I can totally understand why people play it tabletop.

Another nice thing about the PC game is that you can hold alt and move the mouse around to get any angle of the battlefield that you want and you can use the mousewheel to zoom in and out so you can look at combat between individual units and such. I zoomed into my dreadnaught that I sent into a squad of Orks yesterday and saw my dreadnaught grab and crush an Ork with it's mechanical claw, hoist the Ork up off of the ground, torch it with it's flame thrower while it was struggling like 20 feet off the ground, then chucked the poor Ork like 100 yards into a pile of rocks where it left a big bloody smear.

The action is intense. I love my Predator tanks. ^_^ Twin lascannons FTW.

Yeah, that game is awesome... I still have to get the expansion. I REALLY wish they put tyranids(sp?) into the PC version. I played tabletops too but you're right, it's too much of a monetary and time investment for me to keep up. (that and they gimped my genestealers)

It was seriously impressive though to look at somebodies army if they were good at painting. All my best peices were the ones I had my friends paint for me...
