View Full Version : 40 decays and 40 nights. AKA: Don't steal from Alanamarie
Sorry about the super bump, I was trying to clean up this log so I could link it to someone but apparently the old board code let you post longer logs. So just skip this thread, but I wanted to keep the log so I put it at the bottom for posterity.
Actual log starts here now: http://forum.gsplayers.com/showthread.php?p=1043376#post1043376
I stopped reading after this line.

A level 2 stealing to rile up some fun is not so much a bad thing.
But "fun" does not include being hunted down and killed 40 times for it. Heh.

:wtf: that was insane.

Well, it's kinda like those huge balls of yarn that people make. None of it is paticularly note-worthy on it's own, but when viewed as a whole it's pretty weird.

It's ok, Alana has been a wee bit off long as I've know about her, if you know what I mean. :medieval:

I wonder how much time and/or silver all of those murders added up to. Probably a lot less than a little level 2 could ever steal.

My favorite part was where she agreed to raise him near the end (seriously, wtf? you spend three whole hours killing and tormenting the guy then you raise him?) and then I ran him off and got him killed and blamed it on Deschaiyn.

The whole time I had him talking about how the Halfling Dumpling gang got 10% of the fines paid to the deputy so he was the biggest fundraiser for the gang this month.

Wait, that's what Silentstrike looks like from the other side?
That is most excellent - my assassin character just got that much cooler, being an archer as the only way to be unseen was crap.
Although, it kind of aggravates me that the townspeople can still see your name. They should just scream out "Murder", or something.

Considering that all happened in a 3 hour period, I'm incredibly surprised that a GM wasn't watching and scooping people up. Someone dying 40 times in 3 hours is noticed by a GM somewhere, no way it couldn't be! BTW..how's that death sting? Dayum.
Revon1
12-22-2005, 09:38 PM
Well, that type of behaviour isnt suprising from the people at Icemule. I've had to deal with almost all the people in that log of yours. They ALL have other characters and constantly MA with them (Especially Alanamarie). The only person Revon is actually friends with is Athanecia and im a bit suprised she acted that way.

Wow, what a bunch of douches. Alanamarie must be a psycho to have made such a big deal over nothing.

12-22-2005, 09:55 PM
That is out of control. I agree with Jolena, I'm shocked a GM didn't start yanking people too.

Hmmm, knew Alana from a different situation, and thought she was ok. Granted, it was an OOC situation, and I try not to go to Icemule if humanly possible.
But then again - I was in Icemule the other day for a quick locker run, saw Alana, greeted her, and tried to talk to her, and she just ignored me. She wasn't AFK, she was interacting with other people in the room, she just ignored me. I would hope she didn't forget me tho, we knew each other relatively decently. Anyone know if she's changed hands recently?

Of course she did. It's been my experience that Alana is more concerned with Experience then anything else.

Such blatant multi accounting and/or bring of other characters into a fight not their own in such horribly ooc fashion deserved to have a report made.

Report isn't one of my RP verbs. Same reason I had my group open. I don't agree that my pitifully weak halfling should be able to keep a giant from dragging them around. Plus, it's kinda like revelling in a train crash, it was beautiful in it's peccantness.
And also, I'd just like to mention that there are a metric shit-ton of good roleplayers in Icemule, I mean, I'm there so that counts for like ten good other roleplayers alone! :wow:

See, that is the problem with Gemstone nowadays. You just too many OOC people who bring all their friends into character versus character conflicts. It seems like no one wants to fight fair anymore, use their own spells, their own skills, no imbeds and just straight up duel for honor the old fashioned way. I remember back in the day, we settled this shit at the dinghy, and then later the boulder. There was no friends involved, no MAing, and imbeds, crystals, and outside spells was considered dishonorable (and justice was given to the cheater swiftly). Granted, there were always idiots, but where has the honor duel gone?
Ahhh, le sigh

Whether or not "report" is in your RP vocabulary, not reporting them gives license to keep acting like an asshat.
Good job in letting them act in that manner with the next person.

I dislike using mechanics to solve RPed conflict as well. Just because they're abusing it doesn't mean I have to stoop to that level and abuse it too.
Now, if all 40 of those deaths had been justified, in game, through some elaborate storyline about how Alanamarie really despised theives (and it would have to be a hell of a storyline), I wouldn't of minded. But, just because there was blatant MAing and whatnot going on doesn't mean Drew shoulda stooped to, say, closing group.
The same thing happened to me the other day. My dwarf picked a fight with some other people, and, even though they happened to be more than 5 times his level, I wasn't about to close group so they couldn't drag me away from VC. I believe I said as much to Perigourd, who told me to close group so they couldn't keep killing me. Granted, only three times, and, I did call them bugs.

I was sent a log of this the day it happened. Oweodry got pissed because they killed him too, for sticking up for your character.
I won't do anything to Oweodry's abridged file, so read or not, but it gives another perspective on the crap that was pulled. What sucks, is I am a Muler, and I can't stand what they did. It was total bullshit!

[Icemule Trace, South Road]
Various halfling vendors hawking their wares block your way for a moment. You notice a number of giantmen and dwarves heading north, coins jingling in their pockets. A twisted, wrought-iron street lamp at the corner keeps an inebriated halfling from meeting the pavement. You also see a path leading to a white modwir gate.
Obvious paths: north, south
[Icemule Trace, South Road]
The hoarse voices from the west are hard to understand. Either they are happy cries or anguished moans, or perhaps both. A group of enterprising youths approach you and ask for silvers, but continue along the road without pausing for your response. You also see a stone cottage.
Obvious paths: north, east, south, west

A narrow house juts into the street, as though pushed off its foundation by the expanding gaming hall to the southwest. You step carefully along the cobblestones and try not to glance into the open window at street level. Gemleshil suddenly disappears.
Timjirdos says, "Well, i didn't murder him."
Kristalis says, "For the love of Koar, at least kill him if you're gonna get arrested."
A black fox pads in.
Speaking to you, Denjien says, "Payback be fun."
Timjirdos chuckles.
Twylamar whistles tunelessly to herself.

Timjirdos mutters under his breath.
Timjirdos seems a bit weaker than before.

Quintena just closed a dark elven warrior's cloak.
Getsum takes a drink from his ruby red wine.

You see Getsum.
He appears to be a Halfling.
He appears to be senescent and tiny. He has bloodshot ale-brown eyes and ruddy skin. He has cropped, curly chestnut hair. He has a round face, a bulbous nose and bushy eyebrows.
He is in good shape.
He has a whalebone arrow stuck in his left leg.
He is wearing a rich purple woolen backpack, and some fur-lined leather.
Speaking to Getsum, Denjien says, "I killed you, and I stole from you so I will continue too."
Gemleshil joins Getsum's group.
Getsum picks up a piece of rotting fruit and tosses it right at Twylamar! It explodes as it hits Twylamar in the face!
The city official says, "Well, not a single question, huh, Twylamar? That'll be more time in the stocks for you!"
A city official bends down to scratch his foot before rising again.
Speaking to Denjien, Getsum asks, "So you admit to being a thief?"
Quintena stares down Getsum and lets out an eerie, modulating cry!
Getsum looks at Quintena in utter terror!
Kristalis gazes in wonder at her surroundings.
Pattie just left.
Speaking to Getsum, Denjien says, "Only from your pocket."
Quintena attempts to hum a merry little tune.
The black fox roots around the area.
Kristalis laughs at Getsum!
Toy says, "Heh."
Speaking to Denjien, Getsum says, "Look forward to thirty-six, heh, death."
Quintena coyly says, "Gotta love warcrys."
Speaking to Getsum, Yorkel says, "I killed ya twice an kind took quite a great deal of pleasure in watchin ya turn blue ."

You say, "Looks like everyone should kill him then..."
Getsum says, "That seems to be the, heh, standard around here."
Speaking in broken common, Rhaiven says, "And make sure to go get a friend too."
Rhaiven snickers.

Speaking to Getsum, Yorkel says, "I think that belt around you neck matched your face quite well."
You nod to Rhaiven.
Athanecia smiles at Rhaiven.

He appears to be an Aelotoi.
He appears to be very young and tall. He has almond-shaped stormy green eyes and tanned skin. He has very short, wavy brown hair. He has a clean-shaven face, a straight nose and dimpled cheeks. He has a pair of emerald green wings.
He has some minor cuts and bruises on his right leg, and some minor cuts and bruises on his right arm.
He has old battle scars on his left arm.
He is holding a fist-scythe in his right hand.
He is wearing some fuzzy crimson socks, a stained ale brown pack, some ripped midnight blue gloves, a frumpy pale white satchel, a pair of thick grey wool breeches, an old oak brown greatcloak, a crystal amulet, a loosely-woven red cotton pouch, and some reinforced roughly-seamed leathers.
Speaking to Getsum, Denjien says, "Ill be back here when I get out of this, you can try then."
Speaking to Yorkel, Getsum exclaims, "You, heh, killed me twice, I forgot!"
Timjirdos comes out of hiding.
Timjirdos's jaw drops.
Timjirdos just went south.
>l york
You see Yorkel.
He appears to be a Burghal Gnome of the Winedotter Bloodline.
He appears to be very young and average height. He has sparkling sky blue eyes and dusky skin. He has shoulder length, tied back black hair. He has a weathered face, a broken nose and a broad chest.
He has a strange case of muscle twitching.
He has developed slurred speech.
He is holding a midnight black shield in his left hand.
He is wearing a gold ring, a crystal amulet, some elegant gold breeches stitched with autumn-hued leaves, a feathered crimson silk cap, a ruby-clasped crimson satin longcoat, an elegant amethyst earcuff, some black silver-trimmed leathers, a crimson rune-stitched backpack, a waxed black leather pouch, a pair of glazed leather boots, and an exquisite fiery red scabbard.
Getsum says, "Thank you for, heh, reminding me."
Getsum's look of utter terror dissipates.

Speaking to Kristalis, Sovine says, "Im just tellin you what that issue is, hes been sittin here sayin this little thief that has tried stealin from half the town is bein treated unfair, and is supportin the theif."
Speaking to Androg, Getsum says, "YOU'RE sounding like a, heh, stableboy again."
The city official says, "Denjien, ANSWER me these questions in order, one at a time, and within two minutes. What is your race, today's month, and your gender?"
Speaking tiredly to Kristalis, Androg says, "Though i dont see his deaths as bein for no reason."
Toy chuckles.
Kristalis says, "I have yet to see him try to steal from anyone."
Kristalis shrugs.
You feel fully energetic again.
Speaking quietly to Sovine, Athanecia says, "Hun ah dun believe kristalis is in this."
Speaking to Getsum, Alanamarie says, "Shut it."
Kristalis says, "That's not to say that he hasn't,"
Speaking to Kristalis, Sovine says, "And that support eventually drew attention to him, ."
Toy gazes up into the heavens.
Speaking tiredly to Getsum, Androg says, "A stable boy who can crush you like a melon."
Denjien answers his question and the city official nods in approval.
Getsum asks, "Or you'll, heh, do what?"
The city official says, "Eh? No...I don't think so. Try again. Time is running out!"

You see Great Lady Athanecia the Woundtender.
She appears to be a Dhe'nar Dark Elf.
She appears to be of a tender age and average height. She has gold-flecked jade green eyes and olive skin. She has long, flowing chestnut hair divided into several elegantly twisted sections and adorned with some sparkling ruby hairjewels. She has a dainty face, a button nose and dimpled cheeks.
She has a silver-edged dark onyx spike in the upper ridge of her right ear.
She has old battle scars on her right arm, an old battle scar across her chest, an old battle scar across her abdominal area, an old battle scar across her back, a black-and-blue right eye, developed slurred speech, and a scar across her neck.
She is holding a serpentine faewood staff in her right hand.
She is wearing a pair of cameo earrings with a wee moon ringed by six stars, a sleek shadowy crystal pendant, a delicate teardrop ruby pendant, a pale crystal shard, a jet black spidersilk cloak edged with silver silk trim, a ruby-veined dark ivory rose, a tiny black glaes spider, a pair of thin black ribbon wristlets, a perfect midnight black rose, an ebon-sheened dark carmine rose, a black regal griffin insignia, a faded scarlet bleeding-heart blossom, a black leather rose-accented corset, a bone-inlaid red dreamstone clasp, some enruned platinum claws, an elegant black brocade thigh-sheath, a gilded ribbon-twined rosebud, a clingy black silk bodice, an upside-down skull pin, a small crystal Sovyn pin, a pale yellow daffodil, a glossy ebon instrument case, some black dhe'nari temple robes, a rune-incised onyx Dhe'nar wristband, a large shadowy black fan stitched with faint veniom runes, a blood-red crystal-inset platinum ring, a silver moon-link belt, a black diamond studded gem pouch, a sleek crimson silk skirt shot with lustrous black threads, some heeled black silk slippers, and a viciously barbed leather whip.
Sovine says, "An tried every chance he had just to aggrivate things."
The city official says, "Very good, Denjien. All questions answered. Keep alert now!"
A city official glances about with a bored expression on his face.
Speaking to Androg, Getsum says, "The Halfling, heh, Dumpling gang is the law in this town."
Androg tiredly says, "He could publicly admit he was wrong and ask for forgiveness from the town."
Your body relaxes as your thoughts stray from the shadows.
Kristalis asks, "If he's using the law against you, why not use the same tactics?"
Sovine says, "He runs from her to the deputy to complain about anyone."
Kristalis says, "If he's a thief, get him thrown in the stocks."
The city official says, "Twylamar, ANSWER me these questions in order, one at a time, and within two minutes. What is your gender, the number of the hour of the day in elven time, and today's day of the week?"

Obviously, you guys aren't from Icemule.
The "sums" have been around for a very long time. They're a Gang, I forget the name.
It grew old after a while, but needless to say, they've been around.
I'm sure Finis just jumped on the Bandwagon though. He seems to lack the certain spark the others had.
Doesn't matter how long the Halfling Dumpling Gang has been around. If the character in question was trying to stir up the pot then he succeeded in doing this.
I just don't see the difference in reading the original post here and one that Michaelous could possibly make. Its still just one person having fun at others expense.
Then its a group having fun, killing the individual whom started it.
Just my opinion on how this is proceeding.

There isn't "someone else's expense" in Gemstone.
You're not having fun? Move somewhere else. Or type QUIT and do something you DO have fun with.
I can't force you to not have fun. You can force yourself to be ignorant, though.
Just as Getsum os being ignorant to stay and get killed 40 times. Hell if he wasn't having fun he'd of done just as you said according to your reasoning. So in all he didn't mind all the deaths just as some others have not minded the numerous deaths they have gotten for similar reason.
Again, this is just my opinion. And no one has to agree with it, however opinions are like assholes - Everyone has one and no two are identical.

Well I have been watching this post for a couple day, and I have refrained from posting back, as I generaly find that when anyone posts logs that have been edited, that its rather hard, to see the full picture, however, since it appears, several of the people involved in this particular situation are having trouble loggin in, and or being able to respond, I feel something has to be said on this.
37 deaths, is without a doubt excessive, however, I find it very difficult for anyone, who wasnt there, to make a judgment on the event, based on, as the orginal post says,, a 3 hour even, that has about 15 minutes worth of logs posted. I personally, am not even going to attempt to explain or justify the actions of some 20 different people other then to say, it has to be fairly obvious that if someone was consistantly killed for 3 hours, then something major had to be happening.
However as far as Myself personally I killed him twice, both times for attempting to steal from me, unfortunately the chopped up log that was posted, has been rather poorly pasted back together. I am reasonably sure I was the first one to kill him, which, in that log, I think im down at #2 or #3, so right off, the log hasnt even been put back to together accurately, which should place some serious questions to its validity in the first place. Fortunately, you werent the only one that logged the events, and its my understanding the full log, not this chopped up version will be posted shortly, when others can get access to the board.
At that point, Im sure everyone can form there own opinions, and I suggest they do. At this point tho, as far as myself, I have only a few points Id like to make..
1. you seem quiet experienced and knowledgable. So im really not sure why your level 2 cleric was tryin to steal from great ladies, great lords, or any others in the first place, it would see a fairly obvious thing yould get caught. The only reason I can come up with you even attempting it, would be to create a problem.
2. something that was not mentioned here was that there were people who tried to moderate and or settle the situation, unfortunately, when the had to cast passive spells like bind, or sleep to get the situation under control. The level 2 cleric found it amusing to run to the sheriff and had them arrested for hooliganism, a charge I personally didnt even know existed. For those others that dont know, if someone sleeps you or calms you, or binds you, for whatever reason, even if there tryin to moderate a fight or help you, you can have them arrested. which the level 2 cleric did, some 20 plus times, to anyone that attempted to calm things. I personally am not suprised that someone walking into TC unaware of the events, that bound him and others to control things, and try to resolve it, would be rather pissed, when they got arrested, and had to pay a fine for tryin to help the level 2 cleric. That might explain why they stopped helping, and even why they might have been a little hostile towards him.
3. In the orgininal posts own words, your conflict with whoever, you got rezzed, and chose to run into orcs to get killed while still linked, cause you found it funny. I think when the full log is shown that behavior will show through out, and I personally again, cant blame someone from finding you humor not funny.
4, You tried to steal from 2 people, well I know for a fact I was one, thats why I killed you, but after doing it twice, and getting out of the stocks and you tried agian while I was stading there naked, it became obvious to me, your purpose was to create a problem, so I let it go. I think most of the other folks figured that out too, but it also took them tolerating the abuse a couple times, and reacting to it, to understand that. As its already been posted this went on for 3 hours, so obviously new people unaware had to be coming into the situation.
5. I personally find it in really poor form when you make a log post, and then at the bottom it says edited,, and in this particular case it says it because, whomever did the chop up editing of the log, missed a couple errors and pasted it back together rather badly, and somewhere down around the middle of the post, the original one, still was showing getsum trying to steal from people, and anyone that read the whole thing yesterday might have noticed that, yet some how today, those lines are missing. But the opening line is, I tried to steal from 2 people, and I know I was one that was attempted. I just find it interesting that there was a need to go back and edit out the other lines, ANY lines, if it was a true log post, from your side.
6.Untill the full log is available, I am amazed at how people can read about 400 lines of text, out of 3 hours, and form any kind of opinion from that, and as far as MA'ing, I have no idea where anyone can make that judgement from a bunch of deaths cut an pasted together without 90% of the rest of the log being shown
7. Finally, to whomever it was that posted that you've had problems with everyone on that list MA'ing,, I have no idea who your characters are, so I have no idea who you are, but I personally can say, IF you have had a situation with me MAing with you please elaborate, because I have one character only that has ever even been in a conflict. I dont even have another character thats so much as ever been attacked or even been in a conflict of any kind with anyone. Thus I would very much like to hear the details of how Ive MA'ed with you or anyone else.

Slow down there Ace, there's no big conspiracy, look right below death number 37. I edited because I had written "whereever" instead of "where ever".

If someone wants to read through a three hour log they are more than welcome too. Don't hold your breath though.

So im really not sure why your level 2 cleric was tryin to steal from great ladies, great lords, or any others in the first place, it would see a fairly obvious thing yould get caught. The only reason I can come up with you even attempting it, would be to create a problem.
I play a character in Gemstone. He is not reading my screen. He does not see the title great lady, great lord, or any title for that matter. He sees a person standing around in a great multitude in the town centre and he tries to filch a few silvers. So there is another reason for you.

2. something that was not mentioned here was that there were people who tried to moderate and or settle the situation, unfortunately, when the had to cast passive spells like bind, or sleep to get the situation under control. The level 2 cleric found it amusing to run to the sheriff and had them arrested for hooliganism, a charge I personally didnt even know existed.
It was mentioned in the second paragraph:

I accused assault with a deadly weapon. That's the charge for non-fatal spells cast at you in town. Obviously this is annoying, have you seen the way he talks? How he's thief? He's not a great guy. He thinks the dumpling gang controls the sheriff and they get a cut of the fines. I didn't even start out doing that, but after all these people who weren't even involved starting helping to assassinate him I felt fine with it.
I think most of the other folks figured that out too, but it also took them tolerating the abuse a couple times, and reacting to it, to understand that. As its already been posted this went on for 3 hours, so obviously new people unaware had to be coming into the situation.
Actually these new folks were by and large called by their friends. I had a friend in Pinefar at the time paste me a log of two of the characters who came down and killed him talking about it about 30 seconds after the first incident and how they were coming down to get him. Someone IMed them about it and they decided to swoop down and kill the helpless weakling because they could. If you look at who was in the original room when any of the stealing happened and who killed him you'll note that nearly everyone who did was never there.
I think you'd be in a better position if you'd just admit that you've got a situation where a vast majority of the people were not roleplaying and well outside of policy.

well I think the basic problem here is I cant admit anything for anyone but myself, I dont have all this inside knowledge you claim to, I can just speak for my own actions which I have, so im not really sure what you want me to admit to. My comments were just my own observations. However, as ive suggested, my understanding is a full version of the log will be available, if it is or isnt I personally am not holding my breath one way or the other. Im just suggesting those that wish to form an opinion should have the full event available to them publicly first.
and again as far as editing anything, when you post a log, It should be left untouched, I am a very bad gramatically, but, id rather leave a log pure, then have it questioned by editing even my own comments

Nor, do I plan on being OOC and doing anything about anything that occured. Oweodry is Finis' son by way of blood ritual, and Finis' response was no more then, go handle it.

Then its a group having fun, killing the individual whom started it.
Just my opinion on how this is proceeding.
The difference between Getsum and Michaelous is this (for me anyway): Getsum steals...and Michaelous sexually harasses any and all of my female characters, as well as other females in the game, with blatant sexual inuendo and idiocy.
Not to mention that Getsum seemed to actually RP the situation, while from what I have heard, Mich-the-jackass does not.

You may want to begin, your defense of this ludicrous action, by removing several commas, and learning how to use, a period, so as to not create a run on sentence, of the type, you just did, when you posted this, originally, and so that you make, somehow, some bit of sense.
P.S. You mean you can be accused of crimes for casting bind or silence on people in town, even if you're trying to HELP them? Oh noez!!!

You abuse commas.

Oh I know it's just an excuse. I was totally being facetious when I said that. And yes, it's fucking ridiculous to kill someone 37 times. There isn't an excuse for doing that to someone who has stolen from 2 people. I mean, in my mind, the only excuse for it would be if he tried to steal 37 times and got a death for each one. I could maybe see 2 deaths but even that is excessive to me.

I think the question isnt does binding a level 2 help him or not in a fight, but why would you bother binding him unless your intent wasnt to kill him. What purpose would a character in there 20s or higher have in binding or silencing anyone that young if they were going to kill them?
I will agree with one of the other posts made earlier. Anyone that wants to stir the pot eventually will, and in this case he succeeded very well. I just find intentionally stirring the pot and continuing to for hours no less abusive then the results of doing so.
I also pointed out much earlier my grammar and writing skills can be improved, however I pleased to see pointing out my use of commas is the best point you could focus on. Ill try and improve on that :)

Sovine's point is that if the person is just going to kill the person right after the bind, why bind in the first place? It's a level 2 character, instead of binding go straight to the killing. The bind isn't needed to kill someone that low of a level.

For them to rack up that many fines on a character that can die a billion times and not have a single negative impact.

I reported several times for abuse of power, but the GM's didnt give a shit. Not caring they were near cap and I was 10-20 or whatever. One of their binds lasted like 5 minutes or some shit.
When a GM did arrive (Brauden I think?) I was a bit pissed and bitched them out about it. They threatened to warn me and I think I told them to fuck off or something.

Then Stun came to your table and told you to not jerk the dog's chains, and I believe called Evarin a jackass for provoking them. Shortly thereafter, I believe you went to RR?

I honestly don't remember you being a part of that interaction at all. That thief did get what's coming to her, though. The funniest part of that whole deal is I didn't know the tables I was at in Icemule Trace weren't sancted. Ralagar approached the table, and I thought to myself, "Well, at least I will get a bit more RP out of this interaction." Nawp. I was dead before I said a word. Had me rolling.
I did infact go to RR a couple months after that. I finished off Elder Tree Spirits and wanted to hunt Hisskra. Good times.
