Does anyone know what some really good video editing software is?

I have a bit of free time and I figured I'd try to make an AMV (anime music video) since I've always wanted to.

Anyone have experience making an AMV?

I hear Apple's Final Cut Pro 5 is the shiznit from a college student who does this sort of stuff for classes.

Final Cut Pro FTW.

If I was going to buy a PC progam, I'd strongly consider Adobe Premiere.

Keep in mind though, umm, there is a strong learning curve to video editing software, so pick up some stuff that they dumb down first.

If you're doing some animation, I would look at Adobe After Effects.

Or maybe look into Flash. Macromedia (bought by Adobe) has free trials and I am pretty sure they port them for PCs. Their site has tutorials and learning Flash will get your head around the timeline/layers/action scripting thing.

I’ve never tried Final Cut, but I do know this... the US Military uses it. Yes, they buy Apples and use them just for this.
