So I'm mapping out our vacation plans for 2006.... a few short trips (like I resolved to do!) plus the big ones.

We're going to Chicago in June for my friend's black-tie wedding (I so cannot wait!) and I'd like to go to Pensacola this year, because I've heard it's beautiful. I'd also like to hit Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico (I've been but Jake hasn't), go to a good hot spring somewhere for a weekend, and try to do at least four days in Mexico at some point.

My long-term travel goals are to go to Egypt in 2007 (there's this amazing nine-day tour that I want to do, I found it on iexplore.com which is a pwnly website), to go back to England (again, I've been but Jake hasn't), and to go to Greece (not necessarily Athens, but I'd like to spend a week on Mykonos). Of course, these trips are all hugely pricey (the Egypt thing would probably be around $8k all told).

So what are your travel goals? Also, anyone who has any advice or recommendations about ANY of the above destinations I've mentioned, I wanna hear it.

My funds are kind of limited at the moment, as I'm saving up for a down payment on a house. But we are planning a few trips.

I'm taking my boyfriend on a camping trip through Arizona and New Mexico for spring break, so we can hike around the Native American ruins and what-not. During the summer, I want to take him on his very first cruise. Probably something low-key and inexpensive in the Carribean. In October, we want to go to Key West for their Fantasy Fest. We're crossing our fingers for a hurricane-free week. Probably in vain.

My mother's been planning a trip to Brazil for a while that she wants to take me on, a lil' journey down the Amazon river (giant otters, anacondas and piranha, yay!) It'll probably be a couple of years in the future, given that we would need to start taking shots six months in advance.

Eventually, I want to go to the Philippines to visit with my boyfriend's family, but that's it for my travel plans.

As far as tips... don't go to any border towns in Mexico. Just.. ugh. Inland, go inland. Rent a car and visit some of the tinier villages. They have some wonderful old traditions still. My favorite was when all the young men and women of the village gathered in the plaza, with the young women in an inner circle and men on the outside. Then they'd move in opposite directions, flirting and dancing with each new person. Very cute.

OOoh, Arizona! Honey, I lived there for 23 years. When you start to plan your trip, I'd be happy to help you pinpoint some of the best places to visit.

The Amazon cruise sounds awesome. I've been to Mexico a few times, once to Ixtapa, once to TJ (eeew), and once to Rocky Point, which is a pretty standard tourist spot.

Well, I started this year off right: I Drove to DC @ 6am on the 1st because my sober friend was bored and wanted to get it over with. That said, I had planned to spend 3 months in Egypt over the summer for school but that most likely won't happen as for other reasons. So, I'll probably end up going for a week or so in the summer, along with Paris and (hopefully) Ibiza with my cousin. I also plan on going to the same cousin's graduation in May which is in Tucson, AZ. Werd

Next week I'm going back to WA to bullshit for afew days and then I'll fly down to LAX and drive to San Diego to visit my cousin who is about to get deployed to Iraq. That should be fun.

I also plan on going to NYC to visit my home girl and I'll also hopefully get to like meet sean, get him shitty drunk and post the ensuing pictures on the forums.

Oh shit, spring break: I was planning on going to Ibiza, but since I'm going to Europe in the summer anyway I'll most likely end up going to the ATL or Florida, or if I'm extra lazy Myrtle beach or some shit.

The only real travel plan I have is to move back to Arizona in the next couple of years.

Just as Britney Spears fades from the collective unconscious that is the American wet dream; wrecking her hot body by giving birth, and stretching out an already sizeable vagina; Jessica Simpson comes back on the market. This is America's greatest natural resource, pretty, young, slutty blondes who make mediocre music. It proves once again that this resource is sustainable and renewable.

I just read that. Interesting sig Alf.

I'm planning on travelling around and seeing some bands, as usual.
I'll be seeing the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in Nashville in Feb. and will probably head to Chicago a couple of times to see Radiohead and Snow Patrol. I'll probably hit the beach at some point (Gulf Shores) and was planning on going to Seattle to see some friends.

I'm going to Atlanta Thursday and then in July I'm going on a cruise around the carribean.

As for Brittney Spears.. didn't she have a C-section?

I'm not sure this counts as amazing travel, though I am planning to drive to Oklahoma. We are taking two vehicles, split between the two will be..four kids, three dogs, three cats, and a pet rat. Yay..if that's not exciting I don't know what is.

Spring 2006 - Attempt to get to AZ before the family I have there all moves to Minnesota (crazy people).

Summer 2006 - I will be spending a couple weeks in London. Uber-cheap, as a friend of my mom is lending us her place for the time we are there.

2007 - I have not decided for sure. I would really like to go somewhere I can attempt to use my pitiful Spanish, but that will make 10 years since I have been to Ireland, and I really want to go back.

Long term goals - Orient Express trip, Alaska, India, Scandanavia.

Short term plans: San Antonio and Corpus Cristi TX for a week in the spring this year. San Diego/Reno next year, back to Albuquerque the year after.

Long term wish: To spend a month or two visiting a few other countries. Greece (Aegina in particular), Spain, India, Scotland and Ireland and Wales, New Zealand and Australia, and possibly Africa. Maybe after hubby retires we'll visit a couple of those. He's not much for world travel but I'll be damned if I die of old age some day without having ever left this hemisphere.

I'm heading to Oklahoma too, Merji to visit Steven's family. I liked it there when I went before.

I am going to Vegas, most likely as well..though it's not a major trip.

I want to go to London soon too, though I'd have to do some serious pricing since I want to stay a couple of weeks.

I have already been to Italy, France, and cross country driving, so I want to find something nice to do.

I'm already abroad, but once my contract is up in the end of July in Namibia, I might swing through Southern Africa on my way back to the States. Been to SA and Mozambique already, so I'm thinking Botswana/Zambia/Zimbabwe. From there, maybe swing up the east coast with Tanzania and Kenya. Don't think I'll have time for West Africa. From Nairobi, I can fly back to the States.

My friend backpacked Europe last year, and he wants to do it again at some point, if he does it after I come back, I'll probably be there. My summers off are few and numbered. Probably'll have only one left (after 1L).

Next December, the fam is going to India to visit the relatives. Unfortunately, my grandfather seems like he's on his last legs, so it may be more of a farewell than a real vacation/reunion, if he even lasts til next Christmas.

After law school (3 or 4) years, I'd like to do Asia extensively. Specifically, I'd like to live in India for awhile, learn Hindi, and steal back the culture my parents stole from me. Maybe go to China, do some Buddhist retreats. Then SE Asia.

But for this year - after I come back from Africa, I'm not planning on going anywhere near a plane for awhile. 19 hours from NYC to Jo'burg 8 times in two years != fun.
