A LOT of women. I only know this from horror tales reported by my male friends but yes, a great many insecure women do this and I asked the same question you did, why would she do that if she intends to meet them later? The unbelievable answer is that they think that the man will forgive them the lie because by then they are (hopefully) in love with their personality.

Honestly for me, that's an instant deal breaker. Any lie is but in this particular case, it says a lot more about the person than just the fact that they're a liar. They're also insecure, manipulative and disrespectful.
