So I ran over a cat friday evening. The was no avoiding the collision and the only chance to evade would have resulted in an automobile accident.

BlackBelushi (2:11:20 PM): it's personally not my fault that some ass lets their cat be outside in the city despite regulations
BlackBelushi (2:11:32 PM): and said cat became a risk to my safety *(and to others)*

GS Skirmisher (2:11:50 PM): Don't those animals know that the world belongs to us humans?
GS Skirmisher (2:11:56 PM): Those greedy bastards

BlackBelushi (2:12:04 PM): the road certainly belongs to the humans

GS Skirmisher (2:12:11 PM): You tell em!
GS Skirmisher (2:12:20 PM): I'm on your side...he was asking for it...
GS Skirmisher (2:12:28 PM): He was probably breathing too...
GS Skirmisher (2:12:38 PM): damned air sucking road using cat

GS Skirmisher (2:14:23 PM): Well done sir...
GS Skirmisher (2:14:59 PM): Following the example of Reagan....a premptive strike.
GS Skirmisher (2:15:25 PM): You could forsee those animals someday roaming free...
GS Skirmisher (2:15:35 PM): sucking down your air...
GS Skirmisher (2:13:06 PM): Someone should run him over!

I'd say someone was.

Don't think it was you, however.

That depends, did you catch the cat's owner in a coffee shop stealing credit card numbers?

Perhaps it was your seeming lack of remorse that set him off.

Most animals are smart enough to understand that big things going "Vroom Vroom!" should be avoided. You thinned out the herd.

I don't think it's really your fault or the cat's fault. I think Skirm was kinda overreacting and exagerrating on what you were saying. You weren't saying the cat should know better, you were saying the person who owned the cat shouldn't let their cat wander the streets. I agree with that. I don't necessarily think cats should be allowed to wander the street, but that does not mean I wouldn't let my cat do it. I've had two cats get hit by cars and it was probably more me and my parents fault than the cat or the driver. Had you hit a wild raccoon and said something along the lines of "the raccoon's place is in the woods, not on the streets. The street is for people", I'd understand some of the things that Skirm was saying, but it doesn't look like you were trying to hit the cat on purpose simply because he was on the road. Maybe I'm wrong. I hit a rabbit once driving my brother home because he was too wasted to. I felt bad, yeah, but shit happens. Cats and animals aren't really like people or other cars, they're quicker and harder to see and less predictable. I only really felt bad when my brother had to bring it up at the dinner table when we had relatives and my girlfriend over. If you hit a cat, you hit a cat. Sucks, but until animals learn to stay away from streets or people figure out a better way to get around, animals will continue to get hit and killed.
